Here are loads of West Midlands ambulances going to various medical emergencies and taking patients to hospital. Most of these ambulances are Fiat Ducatos however there are also some Mercedes Benz Sprinters which, unlike the Fiat ambulances, are 4 wheel drive, rather than 2 wheel drive. There are only 15 Mercedes ambulances out of the 450+ Fiat ambulances. However, all the response cars are 4 wheel drive, though those will be featured in a different video.
Some of these videos are new and never seen before, as I’ve got so many videos of these ambulances that I didn’t originally bother uploading them as they are all so similar, but I thought I’d put them in this compilation as well as adding some videos already seen on my channel to enhance the video a bit.
These ambulances are responding in many different environments such as suburb roads, dual carriageways, rural/village roads, urban city roads, small towns and motorways. And so you can see how differently they drive in these environments. On the dual carriageways, they don’t use their siren as much, the only tend to use them when approaching roundabouts or to get someone out of their lane, whereas in city streets the siren is used much more due to their being pedestrians, junctions and other things of concern. They mostly use their sirens at traffic light crossings for when going through the crossing. Notice how sometimes they turn off the siren and wait with the traffic at some junctions, this is because they have to turn the siren off when they encounter traffic light junctions and have no room to get to the front of the cue, so the siren is turned off so people don’t be encouraged to go through red lights. However ambulances, being emergency vehicles can go through red lights if they can do so safely and they of course have to use the siren to warn opposing traffic.
Another thing which interested me it’s how different the ambulances are. Despite them being the same type of vehicle, they are all slightly different based on what year they are from. For example, the ones from 2020 & 2021 have a much slimmer light bar than the older ones. These new light bars and actually brighter than the old ones.
