I have lived in FL ten years now. It used to be a great vacation location but as a resident it has become incredibly divisive and styfiling. State politicians are far more interested in passing corrosive legislations which do not help any Floridian with insurance crisis, homeless, home prices, inflation and the worst medical fraud in the nation. Useless state governing is the result when you have the Governor and the majority of the same party. I am a Republican but I am a disgusted one at that.
@miroslavtomic8974
@miroslavtomic8974 24 күн бұрын
Which part of the insurance crisis, home prices and inflation do you want a state legislature to tackle? Going against PRIVATE insurance companies and telling them you can only charge so much, what will they do? Insurance companies will pick up and leave. You cannot force them to stay. This is a national issue, has to be done a national level in order for it to be beneficial for everyone. Even with that, they are actually working on ways to help Floridians, a bill being drafted is to have your insurance premiums be pre-tax deductibles on your income, saving you a decent amount of money, its not perfect but its something they are wanting to help. Home prices, you expect the legislature to do what exactly with this? We live in a free economy, as demand goes up, so does the cost. Lastly, inflation, what do you expect the state legislature to do, inflation is a global problem and national problem, thank your old pal Biden for that. Homelessness... this problem is worsening and its a major national issue, instead of sending billions to other countries, we could easily solve this to help our people on a National level.

@@miroslavtomic8974 💯... I would only add one thing! Homelessness in the Sunshine State is largely attributable to down on there luck folks fleeing the brutal cold, and perhaps more importantly, the opioid/addiction epidemic. The lot rent has raised so high that I will have to sell my mobile home for a loss because nobody wants to pay that much for lot rent. Real Estate Investment Trusts are buying up mobile home parks and doubling the lot rents. It doesn't matter if you've lived their for years, you can be evicted in a short amount of time. Fast forward and just as this video says, prices for everything have exploded, plus Governor DeSantis is nuts. For those of you who dont know, he recently passed a bill that makes it illegal for people who work outside to get rest and water breaks. He should try working on a roof sometime. I had my fill of the summers getting hotter and lasting longer every year and dont forget the threat of hurricanes for 6 months of the year. I sold my house and moved back to the northeast. DeSantis said during COVID, come to the free state of Florida. So what did they do? They came. They bought, at high prices, inflating the real estate market. Higher home prices, high insurance premiums follow. Higher real estate taxes. More congestion. Overcrowding. It was bad before they came down, but now it's worse. It has become very expensive to live in South Florida. I really feel bad for the young people, who won't be able to buy affordable housing. Crime levels increasing. Thanks, COVID.

Regretfully grew up here, got my freedom and moved my family away and came back like an idot! 🤦‍♀🤣 Top ten reasons I can't stand this state: 1. Crowded with bad drivers, it was bad 5, 10, 15, 25, etc. years ago, but it's getting outta control reminds me of a mini Dallas or a mini Atlanta! 2. The cost is ridiculous from food to having a roof over your head, I remember when you could buy food, pay bills and live like a king or a queen. I know everything has gone up everywhere, but it's outrageous here! The homeless population is growing faster. 3. Storms / Harricanes 4. Can't find insurance because all the companies are leaving in some form or another ( I was also an insurance agent as my 2nd job, I know firsthand the pain from both sides) trust me insurance agents can't always get to insure their stuff either! 5. PEOPLE ARE RUDE!!!! Back when I was a kid people would help each other a lot more and have respect for one another, heck people would even wave to strangers. NOT ANYMORE, not sure if it's because there are so many people not from here who have brought their ways with them and the attitude is spreading or what but it's so sad, it wasn't this bad 5 years ago, let alone 2! 6. Because of the cost of living getting out of hand I find myself relocating more than ever before, I come from a family who lived in a home for over 47 years, now I'm moving every 7 mos, to a years because of the cost. 7. Jobs pay terrible here, and it's incredibly hard to find a good job, always has been. That was the number one reason why we moved in the first place was for better opportunity. And I did really well getting promoted to ops management before my mother got sick, causing us to come back... 8. Low pay but high rent! I mean the math ain't mathing at all. These jobs are making plenty of profit from all the people moving here so why not pour back into their workforce? 9. It's impossible to find health care here let alone anyone who will take decent insurance even if it's from your job! I have a Dr appt for my mother for her cardiologist for JAN 2025!!! SMH 10. It's hard to make good decent friends here, the old friends have moved away. And to find one who will not backstab is hard to find depending on where you live. Many people are to worried about only themselves to have someone in their corner who will be there for them... It' 's really sad. 😔 If you're planning to move to FL you've been warned! I'm Planning my final escape from this place once and for all now, and I can't wait to be promoted somewhere else. It will always be home, but home has now just become a house or a motel 6!😭😭🤦‍♀🤦‍♀😔😔🤣🤣

I've lived in Florida my entire life, and I'm just twenty. I try to stay out of politics, but I feel that Florida's political dynamics have turned our state much more Republican demographically and culturally than it has been in the past. I feel it was a nice place to be for me personally, with all the fun theme parks and tons of beautiful beaches and nature, but it has undoubtedly gotten quite overcrowded with new and returning residents, especially now that our population is approximately 23 million. It's also very hot and humid for a majority of the year (I like to bike ride a lot there and feel most comfortable doing that in December or January) and this combination with the critters and insects that roam the state, has made it feel kind of gross for me. I remember there just being farms and other similar plots of land on a specific highway in a formerly-rural area near my house north of the Tampa Bay area just under ten years ago. Now, at the same location, there have been so many new subdivisions being built, nonstop, that it has become so unrecognizable. Also the cost of living has gone up too. Since then, I have decided I want to live somewhere near the Rocky Mountains when I'm older. Not the cheapest option but I love it there and I can actually breathe fresh air and not feel crammed.

Those that dont like FL wont like the beaches of other Southern states any better. Same people, same costs, same issues. I live in So. AL almost 2 hrs from beaches for 67 years. There is a saying about those that want to live very near or on the beach: There are 2 times you will like your beach home, when you first buy it , and when you finally sell it. That's especially true now.

Florida used to be an absolutely beautiful place to live. Crystal clear springs, lakes, and rivers. Pristine beaches. Beautiful woodlands. Hundreds of thousands of acres of orange groves and cattle ranches. Then, Disney came in, followed by several other large theme parks and tourist attractions, and everything went to crap. Overcrowding, horrendous traffic, soaring home prices, and endless subdivisions. I was born and raised in Florida. I loved living there, but at 55 years old I couldn’t take any more of it. Got a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina and just love it.

The closer your property is to the coast the more expensive your insurance is and you have to have 3 kinds now. That is why those of us that have seen this scenario for decades refuse to live on the coast, for us why, beach is only around 90 min away. I live in a lake community and refuse to live waterfront because of all the upkeep, laws and way higher insurance now. But we do have a great lake view.

I also realized you pretty much lived going from an air conditioned home, to car to the next air conditioned building. I'm not surprised about the rising costs of insurance because of the vulnerability to hurricanes. Winters aren't that bad in NY now anyway.

I moved to Florida in July of 2020 and moved out by August of 2020. It was a horrible place for me (personally) to live. Our neighborhood was dangerous. Traffic was unreal. Having live in FL several times (my grandparents built a home there in the 80's) I questioned why northerners would think they could tolerate the heat, humidity and bugs. It's only gotten worse since the 80's. Can't blame FL for the rise in home insurance. The hurricanes have cost the insurance companies billions, so yep they are charging more. Car insurance is going up across the country due to theft so the companies spread the cost out across the country. If you don't punish the thieves, they're going to keep stealing, rates are going to keep rising. As for the politics... why would you move to a state who's politics aren't in line with your opinions? That's just silly. It's not as if you couldn't check them out before you moved. To avoid 'Buyers Remorse' think before you move.

I fear for my daughters and my grand children’s ability to make choices I fear for my grand children for the education they are not receiving And the hatred that is spread throughout that state from the governor regarding anybody that is not like him. Don’t forget to mention if he thinks you are an illegal. He can put you in a car and throw you across the border. That’s just a few of the rights there are so many, he doesn’t let people put things into bills. He just makes an executive order he’s not working for the people he’s dictating to the people move out while you can but if Trump gets back in office, they’ll be no saving any of us.

I left Florida in 2022: not just because of the toxic politics, but also the overcrowding, the mindless environmental degradation, the punishing heat. It's not the magical winter haven it was in my childhood. It's no longer even the tranquil, overdeveloped real estate suggested by the selective shots in this video. The sky is white and the heat is rising. And as homes descend into uninsurability, new Category 6 hypercanes, whipped up into tsunamis of wind by our relentless carbon emissions -- Mauna Loa just recorded last March not only record carbon ppm but the largest ever annual increase -- along with a new, lethal level of heat are coming, and will hit Florida first. And amid the unfolding slo-mo disaster, leadership has its head resolutely in the ground, which is sinking along with the exhausted aquifer. Wondering whether to wait for your house to be hit? Florida has a message: Get out. What I got from this video is that as more Dems move out and MAGA moves in, as seems to be what the realtor says is happening, Florida's ecological collapse will only accelerate.
