Just so people don't get confused: Chrono Crystals double the daily effects of ADJACENT tiles. E.G. If you put them next to a blooming meadow, that meadow will heal 6 hp each day instead of 3 hp per day. It does NOT (as Jon says) heal you for double your daily HP if the day happens to pass while you're next to it.

Anyone going to tell him his vampirism was damaging him every time he went through the swamp?

This is such a good game.. glad to see you cover it Jon. Also Jon, you are using the Chrono crystal wrong. You dont need to be in the aoe to get double effect, tiles within the aoe get doubled, so place meadows near chrono crystals. Meadows will be blooming (I think) as long as they are next to a non meadow tile, so mountains work

Jon still having a level 3 shield on round 6, and not even looking at the new ones he gets, causes me physical pain. And presumably his character physical pain, too.

Should have oblivion-ed the two litch towers. Each of those gives him +5% health and damage.

One thing for people to know when fighting the litch: when it shows up a bunch of palace tiles also show up that buff them and obliviting them removes the buff(s) from the fight.

I love how "We like vampires! They make good farmers!!" is a completely sensible statement in this playthrough :D

This is one of the games j needed to see played before making a decision on whether to buy it or not. Now I have decided to get this game.

So I bought this game after seeing what it was in the 1st 5mins of your video. then 5 hours passed and I went to bed 2 hours later than I should have and I am super tired today, but man is it worth it. so addictive

Actually Jon, you're mistaken about the whole "Universe Time" thing. That meter actually measures the map completion, so the more things that exist, the more full it gets. As such, playing Oblivion on a tile and deleting it actually depletes that bar slightly. Little bit of lore: His name isn't Sans, it's Omicron, which you'll learn later, but yeah. That's his name. He's a mage so powerful that the spells he cast on himself to keep his body going on its own continued after his death and the only problem he could never solve was the Entropy of the Universe. Also, nobody is tending to the meadows, it's just that when they are next to something, flowers remember existing. Suggestions: Be picky about the cards you place. There is nothing that says you *have* to place cards, so instead of placing rocks, place exclusively mountains to maximize the amount of health. you have by the time the boss shows up. Since the boss is summoned based on the amount of things in the world, you have a limit to how much you can place before you have to fight him. Keep this in mind, especially because placing redundant vampire manors, useless road lamps, and overzealous spiders is only hastening you towards the boss without giving you any bonuses to help you defeat him. Also, the mountain peak gets bonuses for having more rocks and mountains adjacent to it, so make sure to surround it. Finally, don't use beacons. I know they seem like a good thing, but you actually want more days to pass per loop rather than less. This means more enemies, more chances to recover health, and more loot. I know this is sort of aggressive back seat gaming here, and I apologize, but I've been playing the game since it was released and I've managed to defeat the first three bosses. Just wait until you unlock forests, because they are freaking amazing. I actually took meadows out of my deck when I unlocked forests.

If you pause just before the boss battle starts at camp, you have the opportunity to flee without losing anything. It has saved me resources many times. Great game!

34:00 - Hey Jon, notice your "run away" button when you move toward the boss. When it animates, you can escape for free. No boss fight required.

Jon, the more builidings the boss has the stornger he is, also you can use oblivon on buildings/camps to remove them not just enemies on the path.

Two pieces of advice: 1: Max HP stops mattering once you no longer have a means of reaching that HP total. 2: Stop placing so many enemy spawners. You don't have to place every single one you get.

This is one of the rare times where I immediately purchase the game halfway through the video. It's great so far! Thanks for the recommendation!

I love this game! I've had so much fun playing it. Glad you're showing it off! I had a great moment where I figured out a great combo to deal with annoying enemies. And it actually worked!

I don't think meadows need a "tender", just be nect to a different tile. You can just put some meadows around the outside of your mountains blobs to get the tangible change. Edit: Also, Oblivion is like the only card that undoes the map progression I think. Very useful if you want to fit something in or a tile is spawning stuff itself but you don't want to trigger the badguy.

Wow, this game looks amazing... Really great job by the developer. Can hardly wait for the livestream! This is one of those "greater than the sum of it's parts" games.

the swamps turn all healing into damage instead! they're my least favorite tile. it turns your vampirism and passive healing against you.

Oh John...funny how you mention that if you keep playing...it will be 14 hours later. I bought and loaded this game up yesterday after watching your recording and lo and behold, 14 hours later I was still playing this morning. I absolutely love this game...I can't stop playing. Thanks for once again shining a light on an excellent indie game.

You can leave with everything not just on the camp tile, but the tiles before and after it. When the icon is animated

I would like to apologize to Jon for being angry at him for only using one ring for the first portion of the video.

Using Chrono Crystals to boost spiders is especially good for an unlockable class. That class gets better gear based on the quantity of enemies defeated so having 2 spiders spawn per day is beneficial. The other thing they do is double the effect of meadows in its' area of effect.

Re-watching this after playing the game for myself recently, at the end Jon talks about playing it more and doing a livestream but nothing else shows up when I search the channel, so I guess that just never happened? That's a shame. Would have liked to have seen more.

The spawning of Sans is determined by how many plots you place down. Goblin camps and other plots that appear randomly contribute to that. Theoretically, you could just keep running in loops indefinitely, not placing anything, until you're absolutely ready.

Jon, with things like vampire mansions that add enemies you actually DO want to put them on tiles where there are already other enemies. Early on in the game you can still win the fights with relative ease but you have a much higher chance for better gear fighting more enemies in one fight

if you have a load of oblivions and you're at the end, you can get rid of his temples to weaken the lich. If you did that you would've weakened him by 10% which might've been just enough!

Perception -1 and a game with a lot of hidden secrets and unclear information? Oh boy this is going to be fun.

While different, this is exactly like Desktop Dungeon in how it scratches the same itch. It's hard to explain but its just as addicting where you play "just one more round"

halfway trough the video i was like "i'm sold" went and bought it, installed, and you know.... tried it out for a while. i'm now back after 4h

Something I've learned since buying this game instantly after watching this video is that if you save up your Oblivions you can destroy the lich castles that pop up when the incursion arrives, significantly weakening the incursion (each lich palace gives them like +5% damage/health, and depending on how many squares near your camp there are available they can have up to like 6 individual palace squares)

I don't think vampires are that good foe farming since they can only work the fields at night..

So all that's left is a camp and a walking track, in the entire universe.

Idk if this was an update, but if you clear the very last tile before the boss, you can escape with all of your loot. What you can do is hold the escape button, and that will initiate the escape instead of running into the boss.

Another game I was influenced to buy. This time immediately after watching the full video. A little bit of material gathering, some building, and an RPG style Roguelite WITH looter mechanics?? Mwah! Quite a grand game. And definitely a major time eater

Being in range of the chrono crystal does not double your regen. Also, once you spawn the boss, you can still get to the camp and retreat with 100% loot without fighting the boss.

Jon... You dont need high defense if you can get high evasion, if you're not taking hits, it doesn't matter how much damage the enemy does... And please, for the love of god, get your sprinty towers covering the swamps, the faster you get out, the faster your regeneration stops killing you

the oblivion card(or whatever it is called) as far as i can tell just removes from the boss appearing gauge thus making it take longer and more risky to get to the boss, there is no passive gain to the boss gauge, i once used 7 of them and all it did was make the gauge go way back, it is risky since you now have less to fight but enemies get harder based on loop count and it takes a lot more then one card would give towards the boss, i use them to get rid of goblin camps and not much else.

Damage to all is the stat I worship. I'll take a much weaker weapon if it has a decent boost to damage to all.

It's a bloomin' meadow, Jon.

rogue doesnt get vampirism on items :( only gets the 5% base, which means you rely on other effects such as meadows for restoring hp, on the other hand you can hit the evade cap really easily by focusing on it which gives you 75% chance to not take any damage coupled with the double weapon damage means late game you can actually heal a lot with that 5% vampirism while taking much less damage overall.

One of the downsides of the combinations being spread out is that right around the time you start exploring them, you've got all the ones you already have access to.

This game looks like exactly my kind of brain candy! 😊 would love more, if you're up for it.
