Hi, This is a brilliant in depth review on the l MAONO AU-PM422 Condenser Microphone, This is exactly what I have been looking for quite some very ltime now! I do a lot of Gaming and this is perfect for my needs, I have been using a webcam for voice chat, which are Not brilliant, after watching your review I purchased this Condenser Microphone on Amazon which was delivered yesterday, I am really impressed as this is a game changer especially with the touch Mute, I No longer have to do any keybinds in game as I just tap slightly for it to mute! The sound quality is absolutely amazing, so massive big thank you without seeing your review I wouldn’t have bought this awesome Condenser Microphone! 🎙😊👍

Lol it took me a while to realize this but that velcro strap is actually two of them stuck perfectly onto each other. If you guys haven't yet, go check it! You can now have two Maono velcro straps to secure that USB cable!

I didn't quite get how the gain control works. Are you saying it is regulating the headphones input level, not the microphone output level? (Since you said it will also change the level of whatever is coming from the pc). Edit: Just listened to it again and realise that you said you can adjust the game volume in the PC. So I take it the gain knob is a real gain knob, not a volume control. - Thanks for mentioning that important detail about it also registering as headphones.

I just use kdnlive for PC because its free and OBS or Audacity for recording. I dont really have any recommendations for Android sorry!

The background of the microphone is so quiet that I can hardly notice anything other than your voice. And for a $60-$70 range, I’m more than likely going to pick this microphone set up. Thanks for the review!

Please help me ! I’m stuck choosing between this Maono pm421 and the pm401, which one is better in terms of quality? And features? As long as I know the differences are only that the pm421 lacks the 3.5mm jack but has the gain knob and the pm 401 viceversa. Any other thoughts or recommendations? Thank you!

Looks to me as the 401 is the same as the 422 but in a different case, the 401 is not available in my country so that might be the real big difference. All the stats otherwise seem about the same so as you say the only difference between the two will be if you get heasphones port. That said, i haven't reviewed these mics so i cant say for certain.

Yep, i put it under as its better for framing the way i shoot my videos but you can have it either way.

Yes, works fine on my android phone and the headphone jack works too all as it should. I just used a standard USB OTG cable.

@@HoddysGuides Great review !! As you mentioned there the 3.5mm headphone jack can be used as an output to the mobile phone, my question is how did you powered the Mic then? Were you just plug the usb into the computer or My guess is you can just pulg the usb cable into a phone charger? Thanks!

@@longdub thank you very much, so i didn't use the 3.5mm jack connect it to the phone i ment that you could still plug a pair of headphones into the 3.5mm jack at the front of the mic and use them and the phone picks them up as if you have plugged them in directly, if that makes sense sorry quite hard to explain! The connection between the mic and phone i did using a USB OTG cable, so all the power and data runs over that so the mic is powered via the phone.

No, interfaces are to be used with XLR mics, the mics with the 3 pin cables. I don’t think USB mics can be used with any type of interface, unless there’s some out there dedicated to that

Thanks, i cant really comment specifically because i havent reviewed the uber but i can just go over the specs, the maono has a wider frequency range and higher bit rate as far as i can tell so *should* be better but it can all come down to the sound and your personal preference. I think your doing the right thing buly looking at reviews see how you think they sound and if that fits with your voice, my voice is quite low and this mic is really good for capturing all of that in my opinion with its wide frequency ranges. Also i prefer having a boom arm bit again thats a personal taste

How did you get it to stay secure? Idk if it was just mine but the piece that is in the shockmount the part that you had difficulty scruing yea I cant get it to hold the weigh of the microphone

@@HoddysGuides Yea but not the elastic but the screw part like with a gold thing. I cant get it to be straight it always keeps falling

@@elizagm5181 what you can do with the brass reducer is it has a slot in it, so get a large screwdriver and tighten it right up to the mount before screwing in the boom arm, otherwise could get some locktight threadlock and that would hold it, not a problem ive had with it myself but can see why you might

I have queston about no latency monitong. Do you hear yourself in both ears in headset or only 1(left?)

@@belkocik oh no, sorry i miss read what you were asking, works in both ears for me with no issues. I'd definitely mention that if that was what i found! I can't think what would cause that but i didn't have that problem.

I've not had a chance to review the AU-903 yet but just looking at the spec's the transducer is slightly larger on the PM422 so i would assume a better ability to collect sound however thats just me guessing as ive not reviewed it.

I havent physically twsted the 421 however as far as i know the only difference is it has no headphone port on it so if your likely to use that feature then go for the 422

I’d say the PM422 because it also allows you to monitor your voice + whatever is going on on the device that you’re using it with. With the 421, you’d have to separately plug in your headphones into the device to hear your device, but you can’t even monitor your voice
