In this episode of Map Doctor, We take a map submitted by GP Studios and make it epic with parallax mapping and lighting.

I like both! But tutorial style would definitely be more useful for some of the more fiddly parts, whereas voiceover is quick and clean because you can organise what you want to say a bit better and stay on topic (at least for me, I tend to deviate a lot when I'm in "tutorial mode".

I'm super curious as to how you take the edited map with all the lighting and changes and import it into the RPG maker program

You can use Shift mapping in RPG Maker to fix the carpet issue

Looks pretty amazing. I'm not sure I like the intense yellow from the lantern but I couldn't have don't it any better, so I have no justification to complain :D

Yeah the yellow light is also something that you could not do, and it would still look fine.

Thats absolutely incredible and i wasnt aware that one could do this. To be honest i don't think i would be able to do this yet, but thank you so much for explaining. I will gladly watch your other videos to find more of your 'hidden gems' in game developement. Your'e awesome *HUGS*

This is one of the coolest episodes of Map Doctor I've watched so far. Fortunately, I'm far enough into using GIMP and developing my game that I can learn a lot from this video purely by watching and using my eyes, without requiring a description of what you're doing. I'm just starting to understand the potential of parallax map overlays as a method of map design, apart from the gridded map making provided by the engine. Cool!

thank you so much for your guides. they are really helpful and is inspiring me to keep pushing on in doing what i love. if it is possible, could you possibly suggest how to make a gacha system or if there’s any plugins that could do that as i would love trying to implement a gacha system somehow. thank you so much >.

I'm just now realizing that my (Currently shelved) original RM project could easily use parallax mapping since all of the maps are so tiny. Something for me to keep in mind.

Is there a way for us to apply this method for lighting (like the lamps) but have them flicker? I've seen a couple plugins that emulate this effect, but I wondered if it's possible to do without any extra tools.

You should be able to make an event (Like the Big Door Event) and have the graphic be a flickering light with a step animation.
