This is bizarre to me coming from a place where carp are eradicated with bow and arrow as invasive species. Even the folks that fish them for sport due so on traditional rod and reel, not on a 10 meter rod and a 5 meter net that seems to take the sport out of it. I can understand the excitement of a 30 pound carp on a fly rod, but this seems over the top however fascinating to see how folks do it across the pond. Keep it up.

Haha, totally different isn't it. Basically it's all competitive matches so you get given your area of water to fish (called a peg) and you have to catch the heaviest total weight within 5 hours. Techniques such as pole fishing shown here have been developed to maximise efficiency in this time. There are some big prizes to be had to with some matches having a grand prize of upto £70,000 - not quite the same scale as bass fishing but not a bad days work :)
