Olly takes his Honda Civic Type R EP3 out for some exhaust clips from the outside of the car to give the best representation of what the Solid Fab Big Bore exhaust manifold running into the Solid Fab Super Silent 3 inch cat back sounds like when accelerating up to 8600 RPM on a K20a2 with Skunk2 Drop In Cams mapped by RaceCal. From Launch Control to fly by audio on an open road and through a tunnel to what it is like on the motorway at cursing speeds, this video should give you the best overview for the Solid Fabrications exhaust system. Plus, some GoPro clips thrown in for good measure.

Spoon N1 on a long tunnel run is epic - I had to change mine for the same reason as you, so understand the need for change. I overtook someone on a back road dropping down to 2nd once with the Spoon, and they probably didn't know I was there, as they swerved to the left (luckily not to the right) in surprise as I passed from the noise. My mate with a modded CRX said it sounded like a TIE fighter went I when passed him in 3rd on the m'way!

Sounds SicKKKK Olly!!! i wouldnt worry about the resonating harmonic. you built her right. yeah...if you could ever do a 0-60 and or a quarter mile run with a portable timing box would be awesome. you could do roll on times as well. id love to see what she does.

Yeah, it's only something to point out. Overall the car is sick now so I am very happy. Yeah, I think that will have to happen if I can get a hold of one.

The old system does sound slightly nicer, plus the little flame/pop between gears, but I guess the trade off now is you have a smoother map from one of the best mappers out there, and more power! :)

It sounds a little nicer at full acceleration but everywhere else it doesn't even come close to how it is now. Plus, yeah... the extra power is worth it alone!

You won't regret it! My ground clearance is actually better than before but that could be down to the fact that the Solid Fab is actually well made and I had some bodge section on the Spoon manifold that may have made it sit lower

Sounds good, not to loud but just perfect. Got a Solid Fab catback on a modified Tegiwa header. It's too loud at 70mph. How much is your car lowerd and what is the ground clearence in the middle of the car? Mine is so low that i dont dare to lower my car. Greetz from Holland! Love your ep3! :)

Yeah, you have nailed it! I don't know for sure but I think it is around 30mm. The rear might be a bit lower than that though. Ground clearance is better than my Spoon exhaust but its and EP3 so it is terrible! Haha

So Ive had the solid fabs full big bore exhaust sytem installed on my pre-facelift for a few years now (decat but I have the HKS cat just case). I have a gruppem intake with rbc inlet too and skunk2 DIC cams. All I can say is it aint super silent, its too frickin noisy, I get a headache driving it. I miss my Fujitsubo tbh. The constant exhaust noise just on daily driving in traffic is too much. I bought it as the CAMs were limited by the exhaust and it was suppose to be "super silent". Tbh in my opinion is too loud on daily driving and it hangs way too low. Im on eibach springs and it scrapes across the floor sparks flying every where on b-roads. the mid pipe is smashed to crap. I have to lift off on bits of road where everyone else is hitting it harder due to this. Going super charged this year (had a jackson charger in the garage for about 6months) Im gonna put the sports cat on and raise the car on something like MeistersR's to try and reduce the noise and try and make it stop scraping. Just my opinion fellas.

Hello mate, the whistle sound is it something that just stays as revs increase on throttle? I’ve just fitted mine and I thought I had a leak but I don’t. I just wanted to know if it’s a normal noise or not.

Apparently it is a mix of the manifold design and the flexi's. I guess it's just coming from the flow. Nothing to worry about. I kinda rate it

I only really notice it at that motorway speed I mention in the video. I could be biased as the Spoon System was so much more droney!

Solid fab offer a sports cat that you can add in. Or swap the standard manifold in for mot or find a friendly mot station

Hi Olly, not that they don’t look cool but would you consider changing your wheel and tyre setup. Do you fancy a change or are you sticking with the classic rpf1’s?

I love the RPF1's but I do think the black colour means you loose the cool design of the wheel. My plan has always been to change the colour so maybe I will get round to it. If I had to change them, it would be for a set of Rays CE28n's in bronze.

@@OllyRoss solid choice. I’ve just fitted my EG with a set of enkei rp01’s which I personally prefer over the rpf1’s. I’ve nothing against them as they’re a beautiful wheel but you just see too many cars with them on. Great video as usual btw 👍 Will you be at japfest next weekend?

Definitely like the solid fab more. Thinking of getting one for my EP3, I want to get the cat back system for now but am not sure if I should get the OEM 3 bolt flange or vband fitment? Only because in the future I'd like to get the solid fab manifold and highflow cat. Really want to get the horrible exhaust off that the previous owner had installed 😂😂 Cheers Love the content by the way, very helpful

That is a tough one then. The V band definitely makes sense when having the whole thing but just the catback would be mean you will need to modify the end of your current manifold. They might offer both with the 3 bolt which would make everything I just said, pointless! Hahaha! Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Solid fab defo sounds more aggressive, Spoon sounds 'steriotypical Honda' which is cool don't get me wrong but the solid fab sounds like a beast in my opinion!

This does have a centre silencer as this is the “super silent” variant. They only get louder from here!! Haha

Solid fab seems a pretty similar sound to the hks hi power cat back system, Not as “asbo” as other systems available.

My extreme angle solid fab is asbo as fuck with a dc sports manifold tbh and it's still got the silencer so I guess it depends what manifold you have on

@@Ztxk94 I would get the silencer yes, it's pretty loud even with that, good chance getting pulled over if it was any louder tbh (with a decat) I've had a mate that heard my car from about a mile away when they were at home 😂

It is a personal preference thing for the sound. The Mugen system will be more OEM and the Skunk2 system is LOUD from what I have seen. Never owned either of them though so not sure on power or sound really
