Mapping OSM landcover multipolygons with JOSM

This is a brief overview of how I edit Open Street Map (OSM) to add adjoining land-cover areas as multipolygons with shared boundary ways to reduce duplication and overlapping ways.
The area I'm editing, is replete with examples of this type of mapping: www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14...
The tools used are:

Hello from the OSM Slack channel! Thanks for this. I didn't even know you could do shared boundaries with multipolygons even after reading the OSM wiki page multiple times. This functionality makes a lot of sense.

Good video! I'd like to add that in the first part, when you're creating multipolygons, you could use Relation Toolbox's "Multi" button having selected just a freshly drawn segment: it automatically splits adjacent multipolygon(s) to create a new multipolygon from parts.

There is a way to create a lot of similar polygons (Buildings), automatically? i mean, in an expecific area create a lot of them in short time

For drawing buildings I recommend the JOSM building tools plugin: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/BuildingsTools it makes it very easy to create rectangles quickly.

Is it bad to use two, three or more separate polygons with joined nodes rather than using multipolygon ? Multipolygon might be complex for everyone to understand.

It's not bad per se, but I find that method harder to incrementally improve than multipolygons. For example, if a field polygon and a forest polygon need a a marsh added between them, disconnecting the joined ways along the now non-shared border is really difficult.

@@AdamFranco Thanks for your point of view. I prefer using ContourMerge & CAD Tools plugin to deal with the problem of sharing and non- sharing of borders. I am skeptical for using multipolygon because beginner mapper often destroy some members and the whole mapping gets affected. We can say both the methods have their own merits and demerits.

@@AdamFranco If a field and a forest needs a marsh between them and, let's say, the marsh is inside of the mapped forest, why would it be difficult to split the forest polygon? You wouldn't need to disconnect anything manually because editors have the 'split polygon' command, at least JOSM and Vespucci do.
