As a reenactor in England currently a member of a group within the parent group The Vikings UK, and also formerly a member of a group within the War of the Roses Federation, it's really interesting to see how vastly different the parent bodies structure themselves over in North America. I don't know if you could really do the same sort of map in the UK since different periods have their own parent groups, sometimes multiple (e.g. Regia Anglorum cover broadly the same period as The Vikings UK), maybe individual parent groups could have maps like this but none quite as broad as the SCA. Also funnily enough I'm watching this while sewing up some reenactment kit, my hose and braies!

Most of the northern kingdoms have their outside events in the summer because its too cold for them in the winter. In the colder months, they move to indoor events which typically have less fighting and are more focused on the arts and sciences. The southern kingdoms reverse this because its intolerable in the summer and pleasant in the winter. Each kingdom and local group is different in the way that they choose to hold their events. That being said, most have a weekly or monthly get together as just the local group with larger events of multiple groups being every few months in a given area.

I do reenactment as part of smaller independent group, but I've talked with a lot of former and current SCA members. It probably goes without saying that with so many different people and subdivisions in the group, there are lots of differing opinions about how they should do things. Some groups are super strict when it comes to historical authenticity (sometimes excessively so imho), and others are more like LARP groups when it comes to realism. The general consensus I've gotten from long time members and long time reenactors that have interacted with them, is that it's not really a reenactment group, so much as a group of history nerds with some reenactors in it.

Regarding the pronunciation of "Drachenwald": It's a German word meaning "Dragon Forest". The "ch" isn't pronounced like a k, but more like its pronunciation in "church"without the "t"-sound upfront (although not completely the same, it's more from the throat). For the "a" i still try to find an equivalent in English words, but if you say "aye", "eye" or "I", you'll notice that your mouth moves and gets tighter. Try to hold the first "letter" without moving your mouth. Or you open your mouth as wide as possible and make a sound. That is pretty close to the German pronunciation of the letter "a". Or just say the letter "r" without the r-sound..
