And what about the MS? That diagnosis came seven years ago, Lowry said. He decided against shots a doctor recommended, thinking that side effects would last longer than just during treatment. The doctor warned that future "episodes" could leave him blind or paralyzed, but no more symptoms have appeared, Lowry said. He thinks the diagnosis was wrong. "I just have chosen to believe I don't have it," he said.

This is one of my favourite songs to play at Christmastime, I've listened to it at least a hundred times and still, it just made me cry. The harmonies these people are capable of just hit you riiiiight in the soul, and some of those notes Kate hits, my lord. Gifted, these people are absolutely gifted ❤️

Voctave is a vocal group. They sometimes invite a singer to join in, like they did here. Lowry is the co-writer to the song they sang. That's probably the reason for the emotional connection. You really should do more Voctave. They are SO bloody brilliant. My suggestions would be "Someone Like You" from Jekyll and Hyde. Jody McBrayer, the brought in for the day lead singer, has a beautiful voice, and Kate does her soft shit again. First time i heard it she made me cry, bad girl :) Other must watch are "How far I'll Go" from Moana. GREAT version!! "Disney Princess Medley" is fantastic, and so is "Disney Showstoppers". ..and don't forget "Poor unfortunate Souls/Put a Spell On You" with Rachel Potter.

He's got talent on loan from God! You should see his version of this, it must be 20 or 30 years ago, where it was just him a piano and 2 guys who were just there for a few harmonies!! It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, and the first time I was able to say Pentatonix didn't make the song better than the original!! But this was great as well.

@stevesrssrssrs the performance you are speaking of was Mark Lowry On Broadway. Mark performed Mary Did You Know with David Phelps and Guy Penrod who he sang with in Gaither Vocal Band. The gifted Anthony Burger accompanied Mark, David and Guy on the piano and added to the performance!!!

Every time I hear it I think I am going to make it through without crying... I always end up having tears in my eyes. Thank you nice person :) Mark Lowry wrote the song. Jamey Ray does all the Voctave arrangements (he is the tenor on the far left, as you look at them). Mark Lowry is a member of the Gaither Vocal Band and a standup comedian. All the members of Voctave are in this video but there may be less in some of the others. My suggestion for the next Voctave video would be Disney Princesses Medley. Hope you enjoy.

Mark Lowery wrote the lyrics to this song. You can definitely hear his heart as he sings. Yes, the singer's in back are all Voctave. They often do videos with fewer members but are always superb.

I'm liking this even without watching. Been waiting for you guys to do this one. Now that I've watched, Voctave is based out of Orlando Florida, I believe. Many of them work for or have worked for Walt Disney World. Some of them aren't always there and sometimes they will bring in a new voice, but this group here is usually the main group. Mark Lowery is the original writer of the song and a christian comic.

Voctave is a cute name for 8 voices. Plus guest star Mark Lowry for this one because he is one of the composers. Their arrangement is amazing and the precision soprano work is like a huge wave crashing all over you. Wow.

Yeah, Kate Lott is amazing. Her final D6 is extraordinary in its own right, but also: earlier in the song, near the end of Mark Lowry's epic long note, she sings a G6 with that same control. I just don't have enough superlatives. For reference, that beautiful and perfectly-controlled background G6 is nearly a full octave above the standard soprano range.

Mark penned this as a poem which he used on a Christmas card. Several years later he sent the lyrics to several friends to get suggestions for putting his poem to music. His friend, Buddy Green, who is a marvelous harmonica player, composed the original music in this gorgeous minor key. Check him out too. Much later, Mark Lowry sang lead in this video. The group of singers known as Voctave is an acappella group that sometimes sing backup as they did here, but when thet sing as a group, they use as many or as few members as required for the individual productions! Kudos to everone in Voctave for everything they are part of!

So beautiful I will listen to it all year long. It isn't just for Christmas!:-) I just got new hearing aides that have a program for music. I am now able to hear things I haven't heard in 30 years. Now I'll have to listen to all the amazing music I've listened to recently all over again. Such a hard life.:-)

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark at one of his shows one year for Christmas. He is truly an angel of God and gave the warmest of hugs. I was only 14 or 15 , maybe? But even still, was so fun. I also had a few other occasions where I had the chance to meet the Gaither Vocal Band and got to hug and meet all of the performers. Such an amazing group!!!!!

Because you guys were talking about Kate's high notes, take a look at Kirstin's and Jeremy's rehearsal with Voctave. It's a short video but very fun reaction by both Jeremy and Kirstin. Video goes with a title "Voctave Rehearsal (with Kirstin Maldonado and Jeremy Michael )". For some reason, I like this version more than the version by PTX. Voctave has this wall of sound... And having the songwriter singing a beautiful rendition...

mark tells the story of how he came to write this song, on a tour bus late at night, he thought if he could ask any questions of Mary, what would he ask? and there was the song. Mark is a wonderful gospel singer.

I am not really a very "emotional" guy, but this version gets tears from me! It's so REAL! So heartfelt. I have "known" Mark Lowry for many years, with the Gaither Vocal Band. He KILLED this! And not many better than Voctave! The two together is a stunner! Leaves me speechless.

Wow. I have a personal history of memories of Mark Lowry from his comedic days, listening to him with the Gaithers with my mom, who is no longer with us. So this hit me on so many levels: how my mom would have loved the resurgence of a cappella, this song, with Mark singing it. That's the emotional level. On my musician side, there was a group in college called Chamber Chorale, the elite singers, instead of the large choir that Voctave's arrangement reminds me. And that high controlled bell tone at the top on the end, magic, pure musical magic.

I‘ve had listened to that version so many times I can’t even count and I still get goosebumps all over. Mark has such a beautiful voice and we don’t need to say that Voctave did that as brilliant as they do everything! If you haven’t done a reaction video for Someone like you - Voctave ft. Another Christmas song that’s good year around is by Luke Edgemon. He sings O Holy Night. The tone and control is wonderful. FYI Luke Edgemon has sung with Scott Hoying, Tori Kelly, and Shoshana Bean. He was also on the Voice.

The arranger for Voctave is Jamey Ray who is on the far left in the video. If you go to their page, Voctave.com, there is a bio for each singer in the "About" section. Phenomenal voices!! And thank you, nice list lady!

Right now, Voctave consists of 11 members. For this song, Mark Lowry, the writer of the song, to do the lead singer. I've heard this by Home Free and also Pentatonix and both are really good, but this one by Voctave is simply superlative. I have never (nor do I expect to) heard the sheer beauty, angelic voices and the exaltation in the singing. Wow. The last chord of voices really sounds like someone running their damp finger around the rim of a fine crystal goblet. It just rings.

for me, this song is proof positive that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. the angels could sing it no better! I've heard Mark do many versions of this--some better than others--but this was the best i've heard him sing and the best anyone/any group has done, doing this song IMHO. i liked your reaction, but you didn't mention the long long note Mark Lowry held in approximately the middle of the song, and that's what i really was looking forward to. by the way, Buddy Greene wrote the music for this song. most folks fail to mention that, so i thought i would.

Hey! I'm super late to the party, but Jamey Ray is the one who arranges their music. Additionally, he actually founded this group from members of the Voices of Liberty choir at Disney EPCOT - most (if not all?) of the singers in Voctave came from there. He's the person standing on the far left in this particular video.

Thank you, kind person for the list. I would like to add Voiceplay's newest video Daddy Sang Bass that came out right before Father's Day here in the US. It is a totally different approach from the top tens. I would also suggest not listening to it with headphones, I did a musical experiment and for whatever reason, Geoff's line is boosted but it is not as apparent without headphones.
