The second goal is for me the most hair raising goal of all time. The vision, determination, acceleration and the out of this world balance when he pulls the trigger. Sends shivers down my spine every time a see it. The lightning fast rotation of his body he performs when he fires the shot and thereby delaying The laws of physics until it’s done is almost impossible.

Like nobody I've ever seen, with the second one here it's incredible how he generates that power with precision but also how the ball seems to have no backlift, it appears never to climb at any point. A lot of people say Messi is the better player. I've seen lots of footage of Messi doing some superb dribbling playing for barcelona. Probably better than a lot of what you see Maradona doing. But the thing is Maradona did it when it mattered and the world was watching. For that second goal he beats 4 defenders in close quarters. On a bad pitch. And that was just one of the goals he scored in that tournament. One of the other ones is considered the greatest goal scored of all time. Messi may be technically better but Maradona will always be the greatest.

it was the perfect weight he could put on his own dribbles which made him the best ever. Messi is quicker and more athletic, and the ball also sticks to his feet, but Maradona could use space around him more cleverly so that he only needed one touch to Messi´s two. And no one could caress the ball like Maradona. His touch was sublime. Only he and Zico, Romario, & Hoddle could touch the ball in such a way, you couldnt work out how they had done it. Messi & Ronaldo dont have that ability.

The Belgian goalkeeper definitely at fault for the first goal. I don't understand why keepers come flying off their line and diving at the feet of attackers in these situations. Maradona had two defenders chasing him and pushing him away from goal so no need for the keeper to be anywhere beyond his 6 yard box "making himself big". All Maradona had to do to score was lift the ball over the diving keeper; a difficult skill in itself but not as difficult as beating the keeper stood on his 6 yard box. Edison at Man City is forever doing this.
