Never in my life have I felt so much peace in my bedroom.
Here it is, the final video in this first chapter of my house-decluttering series. I knew the bedroom would take a WHILE. It held almost a decade of emotional items, and sorting through all of those years was bound to take a few weeks. So far, I don't regret ANY of this decluttering. I don't miss my wardrobe items, I don't miss the decor I've purged, I don't miss the extra jewelry, the makeup, the hats. All I feel is absolute joy and peace.
I hope you'll all join me next week for the kitchen declutter!
Much love,
Kristina

Gentle reminder that this is not simply a "nesting phase." If you have watched the other two videos, I mentioned that I have been working toward being in a healthy mental space to declutter my home for two or more years - and have been decluttering that entire time. While I have learned to laugh it off and most things don't bother me, as a creator with several mental health struggles that have culminated in a home full of clutter, it can get overwhelming to see all of my (years of) hard work get labeled as as a temporary phase due to the end of a pregnancy. The only real part of this unplanned pregnancy that has affected why I am doing it now is that I know how much harder it will be to do with a newborn around. And for all those wondering when I'm due, March 9 ;) Much love! xo

Kristina you have done an incredible job! Very inspiring. Your bedroom is beautiful and so reflective of all the things that you dearly love. I so enjoy your channel (longtime sub, occasional commenter ;0) I too am a sentimental, vintage loving non-minimalist! I have spent the past few years going through the house and only keeping what I truly love. It has been a very freeing experience. I still adore thrifting but have made myself a promise that if something new comes in than something else goes out. So far it has worked well. Honestly the thrill of thrifting at any of our local stores here in the South Sound has been a bit frustrating as "thrifting" has become the new "trend" which seems to have made prices skyrocket! I did get a few lovely items at V. Village last week (thank you 20% off coupon that I got for donating!) I would love to see more "day in the life" and "de-cluttering" style videos, all of your videos are lovely. I hope that you continue to enjoy the winter months and do remember to put your feet up and take care of yourself. I too have to remind myself that as wife and mother "I cannot fill from an empty cup."

I am so so proud of how you've been doing with this (and in all fairness, if you went through and only got rid of 2 things, I'd STILL be proud of you!). My husband is also a keeper and I can completely sympathise with how difficult this process can be, how emotional if can be, and the fact that you are doing this in front of the camera for the world to see is SO brave. You've done so amazingly well.

Great job young lady! I started my journey 2 years ago, if not used in a year, it was donated. I am much older, and I didn't want my retirement to involve daily cleaning, nor did I want my loved ones to go through my things when I am gone. I feel lighter, less stressed, and it's okay to take a break, it's hard to break a habit, especially if just beginning.

Watching you for years, and never have I felt more “connected” with you than in this series. My bedroom and two closets are in the before category. In front of my clothes closet is a mountain of clothes spilling over laundry baskets. Vintage dresser, emotional hoarder, collector of decor and props, and also always a single mom working full time. This winter you are inspiring me to evaluate my entire thought process and do what you have done. My pretty home - but I don’t have people over - my messy bedroom - the piles do not allow me to start a day with calm and confidence. Your tears and struggle combined with determination are REAL inspiration. Real life, real struggle. Thank you so much!!!!!

When I call it "curating my collections," it feels so much better than when I call it "decluttering my stuff." You did such a great job! I hope you weren't sore long, and I'll bet it was worth it. For me it was crucial to have a tidy house when a baby was on the way. The kids are a charming inclusion in this video. OMG, that little voice in the background! So cute. And your little-man assistant. Carpe diem those days (which I lovingly remember as the "sticky years"). I'm a new sub and enjoying you very much. ttfn ~ Somebody's Gramma

I saw where a lady, for each dress took a zip lock bag and hung it on the hanger with the gloves and jewelry for that dress. That way she had matching outfits and not a lot of extra stored and forgotten. She did not waste time picking out her accessories as they were ready and waiting.

Your bedroom looks so much easier to navigate and function in now! Taking away the options you never reach for is really going to make what you do use shine. Maybe you'll find a bolt of cloth long enough during the seweing declutter to cover the shelves, that will take away some of the visual clutter since it's containers and not things that bring joy like the hats. You did so great here and should be very proud of yourself.

Kristina, let me say first that I have the greatest respect for your efforts to declutter your home. I can imagine how difficult some of the decisions must be for you. In this video you are showing some lovely vintage items like the Remington shaver, the hankies Lady or your collar collection. I know you are trying to get rid of things you don't need or use and this is fine. But on the other hand I think that keeping pieces you really love is no shame at all. Midcentury or even earlier pieces are great to have, they'll rise in value over time and maybe one of your kids might be interested in them later. Please don't get me wrong, the last thing I intend is to thwart your remarkable efforts, all I am saying is that it is ok to keep selected things if you want to. Even if you don't use them as props. Love from Europe

Hi Christina, What a super woman you are to be able to move furniture while pregnant!!! Thanks so much for the inspiration and encouragement to keep going... After I was widowed I had some sort of anxiety thing going on and started hoarding things that I thought I would not be able to afford in the future. There was a lot of stuff from the time I was married that I just shoved into the roof until I had the emotional energy to deal with... All my clutter would have engulfed me if I had not remarried a tidy with a talent for organisation and conglomeration of similar things. I would have been drowning by now without him. It's finally time to sort through the stuff that I shoved up in the roof when my 10 year old was less than a year old. Seeing you go through stuff which is much more beautiful than my poor newlywed guff and do okay helps me know that I am going to be able to do this... It's going to be okay and I will be happy to finally have done it and proud of myself for going through the process of release... My mum never could... She ended up with 3 households worth of stuff to sort through and gets paralysed by grief over the losses of loved ones that she is confronting when she sorts through this... she is still surrounded... Thanks for being a healthy role model for the brokenhearted out here who need to see others get through and out the other side of the emotional attachment and anxiety valley and reclaim a new path to health and happiness in life. I also noted your skin looks great in comparison to an older video of yours that I saw... Congrats there... I'm trying to get there too. One day. Again, I have to express: Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Kristina. You are BRAVE to show you bedroom. I had seven babys back to back and weekend I had step kids n grand kids. THIS IS THE HOME OF A HARD WORKEN HOARDER MOM. My kids are long grown and I shouldn't have it like this butttt I DO! I'm an EMOTIONAL HOARDER. I get attached to it. Many things belong to people long gone. I can feel happiness are sadness in my vintage items . When I sell them I'm happy they got a new home n not in the trash. You'd be surprised familys just toss everything of mom n dad in trash . We come along n give it love n new life. It's ok to be a HOARDER. You are a utuber you put you whole life in the eyes of viewers n that's ok. Your a mom of five a full time UTUBE job n probably need more closet space. There's just no room for it all. Don't beat your self up have a yard sale sell what I can n move forward . It's ok if anyone gets smart tell them talk to me lol Gypsy Roselee

Loved this process. Thank you for taking me with you on your journey. I am on a similar journey as I have to clear out my parents house, the one I grew up in, and get it ready to sell. My mother had a tender heart, loved all things vintage, saved everything and organized nothing. I cry over losing her and the thought of really tackling this monumental burden has me depressed and anxious. Your sensitive approach has made an impression on me and I enjoyed seeing you work through it and reach the place where your bedroom is now a haven filled with the items that make you happy. Seeing you get rid of the clutter and find joy in the free space is so nice! I am definitely an emotional hoarder when it comes to clothes but now that my style is changing too, trying to sell stuff and downsize as well. Your house is lovely!

I'm late to this, but I wanted to say that I really appreciate this video! (And the overall series.) You mentioned wanting to find a way of storing necklaces, and that's one thing that I've figured out, after a *lot* of trial and error! If you aren't concerned with dust/tarnish, then I'm a *huge* fan of hanging necklaces on the wall, or on the side of a dresser. (As someone with ADHD, if I can't see it, it doesn't exist. Plus, I own things because they're pretty - they may as well be decor!) You can use cuphooks (particularly good for heavy pendants), or simple brads or cute thumbtacks from the dollar store. I like this for longer necklaces in particular, because of tangling issues. Chokers or anything that you don't want to have hanging are tougher, and mine mostly get put away. (A friend had a bolster-style pillow that she used as a way to store/display them, but it took up too much space for me.) I store mine in shallow cardboard boxes - generally cereal boxes that I've cut down and made pretty w/contact paper. For any long necklaces that need to be stored, a jewelry box with hooks is *lovely.* But if you want to limit tarnish, then small watchmaker-type tins are great, since they have clear lids. Alternately, I like those cute satin jewelry pouches with a snap - one for each necklace to prevent tangling, putting the pendant or a strand of the necklace on the outside, so you know which necklace is in which pouch.

I love having hats and shawls up on walls for display, but they gather so much dust and can quickly get attacked by moths, so now I keep in storage boxes with lavendar satchets xx

Absolutely a wonderful job you have done. The happy and relieved feeling really shows on your face and in your energy at the end. Such a release. Loved these videos of the bedroom declutter. I can remember the era of White Shoulders. All the ladies in our family got a perfume, or a powder for Christmas. Some came in a set with both. It was always used sparingly so it would last. Thank you❤️🐕🐕

Doom closet is looking good!!!! I’m currently decluttering for a downsized move. One of your other videos talked about a built in afternoon break. I love that. Build in time for violin practice! That should help with the pointless guilt

You said your room isn't "aesthetic" but I beg to differ. It's homey and that is what matters because you live there. Kudos to getting the job done! I have been doing the same but it's because we are downsizing and still going through a lost family member's stuff, which is a whole different ballgame. Feeling the loss again, guilt, memories, etc. Purging is never easy.

I have been un-hoarding my life and home for 7 years and I’m now living in a 450 sq.ft. home with my husband. So it continues. 🙃. My brain doesn’t understand that I no longer live in a 2000 sq.ft. home. My mental state and emotions have gone through chaos and I’m not adjusting well. I thought I was ready for this but sadly I wasn’t. You are helping me truly see my house through different eyes.

Very glad I found your videos. I stumbled on them from your strawberry kitchen tour because I'm currently slowly filling mine with vintage thrifted pieces. I'm also in the process of uncluttering years of clutter and just... junk I've accumulated over the last four years or so, to make my home a more comforting space that makes me happier to be in. So this is wonderful motivation for me. You're great and very comforting and calming to watch and listen to, so I'm very glad I stumbled over your channel.
