Same issue here in North FL too... There's always available trailer parking but never single car parking. I have a utility trailer I've used (I'll be damn if I buy a second trailer just to park), but for one person and one kayak, it is pretty stupid to bring a trailer when my kayak fits on my roof just fine. Local governments really need to start adding kayak parking.

I have an inflatable kayak/hybrid boat (Sea Eagle Paddleski 435ps) with a 3HP lithium electric motor. We're likely to visit in a day or two. Where else in the Keys would you recommend we can launch? I inflate it each time. I've taken it on the Key after Key Largo once, but it was too windy. So a place that is maybe protected from the wind would be good as it's likely to be 10-20 mph I'm seeing in the forecast for the next few days. Thanks for your suggestion/s.

smart man, now you can just keep the kayak assembled on the trailer and can launch easy.... i know loading everything off and on kayak is a pain.

I actually like your travel videos of the local area. Good choice in travel music. Trailers are worth it, others may want to look at Northern Tool for their small trailer (many use as motorcycle trailer). The clamshell allows you to securely store your fishing gear, and you can carry your kayak on top of it or two to each side.

Run low psi in ur trailer tire so it don't bound as goin down the road... Ur kayak and weight of trailer will not be enough weight for the suspension to work on trailer..

Nice trailer for the price!!! Probably worth it, even if it is just for the parking!! Our 17' kayak is too big and heavy for a car top mount, so we have to use a modified John boat trailer. But a trailer is a very handy thing to have when you need one!!!

Kayaks/SUP/Canoes are low impact and sustainable. Apparently the city of Marathon does not like that. It's dumb but not necessarily racist.

In pinellas county same issue on the smaller places. The ramps on the county parks are fine. There are limited amounts of car parking anyway. When I went down there when I was a kid there is a ramp on big pine which is too far for you I bet.

I'm pretty sure legal parking signs have to have a Florida statute number at the base of it to let you know which law that parking there violates. I'd complain to Parks and Recreation. If that is a state sign then they're violating your First Amendment right. When is a public parking spot not a public parking spot? Only if its private, or you're violating a posted legal law from the state.

I’m sorry to see that you can’t find spots to launch at like Curry Hammmock State Park or Sombero Beach. Your overlooking the fact that there is a lot of people that fish out of marathon and water access is needed.

I have to admit it isn’t right. I have to get an off shore fishing license to fish because my kayak is considered a “ vessel “. If I put a small electric motor on it I have to register it as a “ vessel “. If I go off shore beyond 2 or 3 miles, I have to have safety equipment like a “ vessel “. But they won’t provide parking, like a “ vessel “. Where are all those every other block attorneys in Florida? You would think someone would have sued by now. Over taxation without representation.

Then they should not charge us for off shore fishing license or registering our kayaks for having a small electric trolling motor or having flares, etc for going beyond 2-3 miles out.
