Thank you for the nice reaction, MDP. As you have already read in the comments, this song was written by Morissette together with her then fiance now husband Dave Lamar, the man she is with in this video, he is the sound engineer, mixer, producer, videographer. This was their first original work together, their "primo obra maestra". It is very personal to Morissette, this is her message to her father who cut ties with her over her choosing Dave. I think that happened in 2019, so it's been more than 3 years now, but still they haven't reconciled yet. They didn't even attended her wedding in 2021. I couldn't imagine the sadness and pain she is going through because of this. "Do you still think of me?" is her question to her dad, as well as her mom and brother. And her message is "I still love you" and she kept on repeating that in the chorus, to emphasize it and to let that sink in to the them. Yes, I agree with you, the cello and piano accompaniment, and the black and white theme, made this more melodramatic and cinematic. It can be made into a soundtrack and soundscore for a drama film. There's also music video of it, independently shot and produced by Mori and Dave. Please check that one, too. Regarding your comment about the chorus, in my opinion, Mori and Dave during their writing process have considered various options, lyrics, and iterations, and finally came up with this one. So it should be as it is. Anyway, I was trying your suggestion to change the lyrics from "I still love you, still..." to "I love you still, still" with the same melody, and the latter sounds awkward, so the original lyrics is better. And in the last chorus or coda, the "you" was sustained into a belt with backup vocals (and whistle). It would not have worked if "still" was the last word instead. Anyways, I like the overall positive reaction and review you gave to this version. Looking forward to your next Mori reactions.

It is common in the Philippines to call someone Sir and Mam. It doesn't matter what your status in life is - rich, poor, middle class or average. Malls, restos, cafe's even supermarkets, they greet you sir or mam when you come in, if you need help and anything else in between. It's a sign of respect for anyone and everyone.

The "producer" is her husband David. He co-wrote this song and does the video for much of her work. It seems to be a very loving relationship. Morissette's choice over her father's and her father's subsequent absence from her life is the genesis of this song.

We were raised to show respect to anyone older than us. In practically all Filipino languages, a common name of an older person would be prefixed with „kuya“ for a brother or „Tito“ for an uncle, or „sir“ for non-relatives. A „sir“ would also be used to address someone whose name is unknown.

The song was written to her estranged father whose relationship with Morrisette is broken. It's broken so badly that he didn't allow any of her family attend her wedding. She walked down the aisle alone. It's her heart-felt cry to have her father back and I think the chorus is perfect once you understand the meaning of the song. She's telling her father "I still love you, still"... a very nice reaction, thank you.

A masterful reaction to a masterful performance by Morissette. The essence of the song was the love lost (and later found) between her and her FATHER. It was a father-daughter love in crisis that was breaking her heart. Nobody would have really guessed.

She co- wrote this with her hubby Lamar who's on the mixer. This song is an open letter to her estranged Dad right before she tied the knot with Lamar. As far as I know they're still not in speaking terms. It's a very emotional song. Watch the original music video and there's so much meaning in the lyrics and visuals. The lighthouse is one of them.

This song is about her dad who disagrees with morisettes choice to move away from home to go toward with her relationship with Dave Lamar who is on the mixer in this video who is now her husband her dad was so upset at morisette that he cut her off and hasn’t talk to her ever since this song is a message to him and her mom and brother that no matter what happened she still loves them it’s a very special and emotional song she and her husband wrote together Dave is such a positive influence in morisettes care hopefully her dad will realize he made a mistake by trying to control morisettes future but it’s understandable too because mom and dad was the ones that push her to fame

mori's engagement and decision to get married with her husband now (dave lamar), was the center of the issue to which her father (her trainor until the break up) strongly opposed the relationship that led to the sad breakdown and separation that shut off the communication leaving mori on her own to date I guess ... mori got married without her parent's blessing...the break up led to the beautiful and heartfelt composition of this song trying to send message of what she feels to date relative to how much she has been missing her father and the entire family who had been very supportive of her career since the beginning... she composed this song to tell the family especially the father that she loves them still

Seems one's love for one's parent or parents never goes away, so i think this explains the title Love You Still. In her case it's the father-daughter relationship that's been strained to the point of not talking anymore...this too explains why she broke down. The line, if we came face to face...someone pointed that she actually and literally broke down to tears that they have to take another shot... this song is the closest to her heart.❤️

My fave version of this song. It hits so differently and from the moment that cello starts, if you know the background of this song...ugh, it just pulls at your heart strings. Dave is so good to and for her. This has got to be so hard for her to sing this song because of how personal this is for her. It's such a beautiful song. Wish you got to hear the EP version first and then this version. This is such a pulled back version but the emotion is so much more raw and just makes you feel the feels. She's still estranged from her Fad, her family. They weren't even at their wedding a year or so ago. She's just amazing. Yup, definitely a Filipino thing because even at fast food joints or the local convenience stores, people get referred to as "ma'am" and " sir"

The first release from her Signature EP released in Nov. 2021 ( you said, 2001) a very intimate topic that is very emotional for her , co-written with Dave......a digital attempt to reach out to her Father, who in 2019 , didn't like her choice in love. and gave an ultimatum ...Family or Dave Lamar , and Father hasn't spoke to her since.....and wouldn't permit her family from attending her wedding. Celloist....said at the very end......" it's a beautiful song "" Done at their own studio....UnderdogMusicPH ,and Dave does the mixing and the cinematography . You should watch the MV as well....with the metaphors of the topic. Always read the description, she usually spills a very tidbits there.

Love You Still is written by Morissette and her husband, Dave Lamar. This song is a letter/message for her father because they are not on good terms. Morissette tried to reach out multiple times, but her father is not ready to forgive her yet. This issue was big in the Philippines in 2019. Morissette's father ranted out on Twitter, saying that her daughter had eloped with someone (and that someone is Dave Lamar), which was proven false. What Morissette did was fight for her love, and as a result, her father cut ties with her. And because of that, Morissette suffered from depression. She even had to take multiple consultations from doctors. That's why this song is really heavy, not only for her but also for us, her fans.

@@romaric-eliegildas7307 No. Morissette's father was her first mentor. Since her younger years, Morissette was the main source of the family's finances. She joined contest after contest to support the family. She grew up differently from most children. I don't know if its true, but she supposedly left most of what she earned to her family when she decided to follow her heart.

Hi Marc Daniel Patrick!! that song had a strong attachmement to MORISSETTE because it reminded MORISSETTE what She went through in a long long year She cried when She was on bed to sleep every night a tears fell from her eyes longing for Her Mother and Brother and to Her father too, who caused Her sufferings becsuse Her father prohibited Her Mother and Brother to visit them at their Family Home. It happened when Her Father discovered that MORISSETTE and Dave now her hubby had a serious relationships and He told MORISSETTE to break it up but MORISSETTE ignore him thst time She was already 22 yrs old matured enough to fall in love. Her Father was so upset when Morissette left their home to live by her own and stayed to the house of Her Talent Mgr. not with Dave and thst time was MORISSETTE's primetime so many projects and no time to rest in the Philippines and Abroad. And despite the problems arised between Her Father and Morissette She left a millions of pesos in their Bank accounts to be used by them in their daily needs thst's how good a daughter MORISSETTE is!! imagine her sufferings a long year without any communications at all even with her Mother and Brother only!!! Because of this sufferings MORISSETTE begun to create her own song but her purpose was only to conveys her message to her Family especially to her fsther. Analyzing the root of this misunderstanding I should say probably its because of money that His Father could not accept that having his daughter entered into a relationships might ruined Morissette's career and the flow of money would stopped. Her father was a Jobless that time relying on MORISSETTE's earnings through Singing I learned all of this through various TV Show Talks that trends over a month some of firectly blame her father for being Selfish because of money. When you are famous Showbiz person here in the Philippines your life could not be hidden or kept it secret!!

I feel bad that anyone has made Morissette so sad. After your last Morissette review (This is Me!) I commented on how joyful she could be. Mori is a wonderful singer. Such a talent. Still waiting for a reaction to Faouzia. She has powerful, unique voice. Vocal coaches, opera singers and Broadway musical performers admit they are fans. She’s recorded with French rapper Ninho, US rapper Rapsody, EDM king David Guetta and powerhouse duo Galantis, diva Kelly Clarkson, and notably invited John Legend to join her on ‘Minefields’. I recommend the Today Show version of “Minefields” or from the Scoob movie soundtrack, “I Fly” stripped version, or the Orchestral version of “Hero”.

Love your reviews. Sometimes:) As a Mori fan, sometimes it’s hard not to be protective of one’s favorite singer when a reactor says something that we don’t agree with. Per your comment about the chorus and the song, she/Dave did write it for herself. And her dad. That song is about their relationship. I’m inclined to think that she/Dave went thru a bunch of iterations, maybe even your suggestion, then finally settling on what are the final lyrics. Credit Mori/Dave for not settling and even giving us different versions if there are more ways to portray the emotions within their songs. Thank you.

As many of her fans have already commented this song was written for her Dad. This song is one of 5 original songs on her EP. The EP was co written and co produced by Morissette and her husband Dave Lamar ( the one sitting in the room with her doing all the mixing ) I’m like you Marc … give me a good string instrument (in this case a Cello) with a star vocalist and I’m in heaven! It’s a pity you haven’t heard her EP version of LYS because the tempo is very different. I personally love this slow down version especially with the Cello in the background but that’s just my preference. Your were 💯correct that 4.35 into the video she stopped and literally had to compose herself and continue. The saddest part of this whole situation is that none of her family was there on her wedding day. As fans of Morissette all we wish for is nothing but the very best for her not just with her career but with her life. We all pray that one day she will get to reunite with her family again. This is the third time I have seen a performance where she cried. The first time was at the end of the video “Could You Be Messiah”. The second time was when she sang at the Mothers Day concert in Laguna and dedicated the song “Wind Beneath My Wings” to her mother sitting in audience. If you do watch this performance take note that she had to look everywhere else but to her mother because she knew she would not be able to compose herself. Finally my last comment is that I get very upset when people especially haters that cannot fault her vocals but complains how Morissette doesn’t sing with emotions. Well if this video doesn’t show the raw emotions that pours out her then I don’t know what will. I have left you the link for her performance “Wind Beneath My Wings” in case you want to watch it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rqqXgLmHx9Oroas.html

Thank you for granting us this request. I won't add to what has already been said, but I actually had the pleasure of meeting with her and Dave over Zoom in 2020 during the Pandemic (very fortunate fan dream opportunity) before the original single of this song dropped and got to hear a sneak peak first. I'll never forget this song for that reason alone. This was her first cowritten track ever and deeply meaningful to her. The original was designed to be more Pop and radio friendly. This is probably the 3rd and final evolution of this track thus the (Sunset) version title. As fan I love to see her growing, putting herself out there and taking total command of her identity as an artist. You said it well. I live for all the "snap, crackle pops," in her voice. I love that about this version and most importantly "to thine ownself be true" the honesty from her keeps me straight up whipped as a fan. Thank you again for sharing your platform. Have another suggestion from her original catalog (when you circle back her way ) and one random follow-up request. "Will You Stay" live version from the same EP is a big fav of mine but a completely different vibe And on the Theater tip I mentioned on another reaction ( I think one of yours for Hamilton) if you could pop Shoshana Beans Performance on the Martha Stewart show of "No Good Deed" on you probably endless list. Love You Still is a song from her EP "Signature", one of five songs she co-wrote with her husband/producer (the producer in this video). "Sunset version" is a more mellow, cut-down arrangement of the version in the EP. As for what they're saying in the end, Dave says "ganda" (beautiful!), and tells the cellist that he made Morissette cry. Then he says "this song hits differently with this kind of arrangement". Morissette says "grabe" (too much!) followed by "ayoko na" (I quit!). Jokingly of course.

Thank you for a great reaction as, always. Love You Still has a lot of versions. I think this is her fourth or fifth and this comes with music and lyric videos. This is much slower than the other versions and I think the most emotional. Some versions features her belting in the end. The "producer" beside her is her husband, Dave Lamar who is also helping her with co-writing and video development. This song is part of her EP entitled Signature which features, Trophy, Mirror, Will You Stay and Phoenix. In case you're interested, you might want to review Could You Be Messiah (very emotional performance) and Listen cover (very passionate performance), the one she performed at Solaire Hotel in 2018. By the way, "Sir" is used by us to address a person with respect because he is either older in age or he is a person of authority.

Lots of people telling you to watch the MV: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rc9mfZlqs8ewm3U.html I much prefer this sunset version. But i guess the comparison between the original version as used in the MV, and this one underscores her and her husband Dave’s musicality and their expressiveness, how life and changing circumstance color how she emotes and how they arrange music. If you should be interested in comparing versions, you may want to see a third version, which I also prefer to the MV, the live performance - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odaffrli0OC1hY0.html The MV is sad and haunting; the live performance expresses agony , frustration, anger, and pushback; while this one is just heartbreaking, resigned. I dont know why this is called the sunset version. Personally, I find it incredible that her father has hardened his heart against Mori for this long. Sunset…am thinking it has to do with diminishing light and hope, descent into depths of sadness. Abyss - you used the perfect word to describe where she is in this song. I hope a new day breaks for the father and daughter. The longer they stay estranged, the harder it is to come back from. but that’s me. I think Mori is an angel and will forgive him regardless.

I wonder if adding the cello was Dave's idea? It kind of seemed so. For those who wonder how Morissette can do those vocal squeaks, when she talks at the end and you hear that bit of raspiness in her voice and her laugh. I think that is a necessary quality to have to produce those squeaks. If you or anyone knows of a singer that has a non-raspy voice that can produce the squeaks. I'd love to know if I am correct so if someone knows for sure. Tough song to sing even if it has been awhile since the dad and daughter went their separate ways. Just like the song says nobody's right, nobody's wrong. Everybody loses, but both feel they've won. I pray that a reconciliation comes soon. A fantastic song, beautifully done.

Please sir, thank you, Please can I help you, well in most ASIAN countrys it's called GOOD MANNERS and RESPECT which is to 80% gone in Westen countrys, like the USA and many Europian countrys, we could learn a lot from ASIAN countrys but we are so ignorant and thinking we are better, NOW back to this beautiful song from Mori and Dave, WOW that chello and the light piano fading in just makes it so much more emotional, the original arrangement is beautiful but this is even better, so with good manners, I thank you sir for your reaction Please keep up the great work.

Do you know how many songs have “I love you still?”??? This makes it hers and unique. And, she wrote this for her father who she’s been estranged from for quite a few years now. Her father is a control freak who wanted to live off her. So, back off on the title of the song. It’s perfect the way it is and what it entails towards her life and style.

yes it's a Filipino thing to call anyone Sir, Boss, Madam, Maam, Miss. For "local" elderlies in the office setting... it's common to hear "nay short for "nanay" (mother), ate (older sister), or tatay (father), kuya (older brother). As much as possible, u find a way not say the name of the older person you are talking to as it is deemed "unrespectful". If u hear a Filipino outside the Philippines in a work setting still calling everybody maam and sir, you could say she/he is pretty new from the Phils.

She keeps repeating her love for her father "I Still Love You" who she misses. They hadn't spoken since her husband asked permission for her hand and he refused. It broke her heart. And that's her husband doing the board and her lights, videos etc. In they're little home studio.

Many asked why this is called the "sunset version". My guess is that this might be her last plea to reach and reconcile with her father. She might be feeling this is the "end of the road" to their relationship as daughter and father. If my hunch is right this would be very sad especially to Morissette. That would be tragic to both of them. I would be one of the happiest fans of Morissette if my gut feel is wrong.
