I honestly cannot believe a 2-minute trailer of a stop motion shell with little shoes and jiggly eyes could make me completely bawl my eyes out the way I just did. I am so gonna watch this film.

I don't know what's harder for my brain to process: That a movie is actually being made about Marcel the freaking Shell of all things; That it's being made by A24 of all studios; Or that it actually looks seriously, sincerely good.

I really wish people would credit the creators more often. It always seems to go to A24 who rarely actually finance or produce films. In most of the world A24 won’t even have anything to do with this film. It’s like if a new awesome book came out and you praised the publisher but had no idea who the author was, or you stumbled across an awesome song and gave all the credit to the record label and didn’t even know the name of the band. This A24 fanboyism is really weird.

For anyone who doesn't know, there are a few short films about Marcel the shell with shoes on on KZfaq, also directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp and starring Jenny Slate! They are the creators of Marcel the shell with shoes on, and these short films are what the feature film is based on :)

@ Sekhmet's Rag I wouldn’t waste your time, sometimes you can just tell people aren’t the sharpest knife in the kitchen, it’s best to just leave them be lmao. If they managed to barely type that out, lord knows whatever nonsense they’re bound to spew out next if you poke em. They clearly couldn’t grasp a simple concept of back 20+ years ago the way films and tv shows were distributed to the masses is far different than it is today. We still have the traditional channels, like a movie theater for example, which is mainly how films that are considered classics are remembered as such, namely by a film being in theatres and having great word of mouth that spreads and causes the film to be remembered fondly as opposed to now for a film thats not a superhero movie to be remembered as a classic is pretty much nonexistent nowadays. It’s sad, really but it is the reality of the situation.

When I made my list of top 10 movies of 2022, Marcel came in at my number two spot just below Everything Everywhere All At Once. It does seem kind of odd that my two favorite movies from last year had one that was a sprawling epic that stretched across multiple universes and multiple timelines, and was a master in acting and visual storytelling, and the other was a simple heartwarming movie about a little shell.

My bf came across this on a streaming platform last night, he said "Marcel the shell...?" and I came *running* from the kitchen, "WITH SHOES ON???" I couldn't believe my eyes but I'm so happy to see Marcel again, such a sweet character. My friends and I would do the voice and recite quotes all the time :') Can't wait to watch and cry.

My name's Marcel and I have to say that I immediately had to watch this trailer. And I am stunned. I literally began to cry, sob, when I heard any quote from this trailer, especially "Marcello, let's forget about being afraid". I am as sensitive as a literal shell, and seeing what struggles the main character will encounter I immediately identify with him. I am in tears, I can't wait to watch this.

First of all, it looks absolutely brilliant, yet I do hope the "real people" don't take up too much space. Was actually thinknig at the beginning (and hoping) he would go on his journey with very little to none human interaction. Hope the movie is heartwarming anyhow ^^

Great use of a song I have adored since its release, and it always meant something much deeper to me, and this films catches what it is. That yearning for whats lost and perhaps can, and perhaps can't, be found. I was 13 when the song came out, and was at a school that I felt completely out of my depth in, and this song took me home. It's time the world realised just how damned cool and talented Phil Collins is.

I just watched this movie for the first time last night and I was bawling. I had know acknowledge of who Marcel was besides this movie and I was just blown away! A beautifully, poignant, emotionally stirring, richly profound masterpiece with a LOT to say about life. This is probably my favorite A24 film rn and that's saying something EEAAO came out the same year. Watch this movie pls, you'll be surprised how a movie about a talking shell w shoes can not only make you sob, but make you reflect on your life and appreciating it as well as those around you. 10/10
