My Citrus (Meyer lemon) is 16 now, she has 21 lemons ripening. Very interesting programme. I live in SW France high up, we get very hot summers and 2 / 3 months of intense cold. She comes in at the end of October, plenty of light but less water, and goes out again around May. She is like a pet and is treated accordingly.

My filipino lemon is 17 years old grows beautiful and MANY lemons, ALL year My main thing, is to always have the proper NPK, of 6-3-3. That is= 6% Nitrogen, 3% Phosphorous, 3% Potassium. I hope my comment helps others, grow beautiful fruit trees. Ps: NPK 5-5-5 will work too!

marcelina noss I make my own... comfrey plant, the leaves is my main natural way to make fertilizer, over longer time frames. It has everything your other plants and TREES need. Make a "stinky tea and feed your plants with it. Also, use leaves as a chop and drop, for slow release, to increase soil health. In my yard, my plums and peach trees, are SUPER large! I never cut them back...lol. They are so heavy with fruit right now, the branches are hanging super low. They are only 8 years old! No joke... they are SUPER sized. I plan on cutting them all back, this coming fall. If you dont have Comfrey: For instant Calcium and Potassium: I use eggshells, dried and ground up, into a powder. mix 1 tablespoon eggshell power, to 1 tablespoon white vinegar and let set 15-30 mins, then mix with 1 gallon of water. Shake well and water the fruit trees. This gives the plants and fruit trees, instant calcium that they can use immediately. For a boost of Nitrogen: used/old coffee grounds, made into a weak coffee tea.... My fruit trees love it! For a longer time frame: make compost by reusing OLD potting soil. You cut banana peels, cut into tiny pieces, mix in old coffee grounds, dried out leaves (from a yard) , and mix into old potting soil. I have much more information.... but not enough room on here for all that. Lol. But you see what I'm saying, there's always a cheaper and more natural way to add nutrients to potted fruit trees. I also use eggshells all in my veg garden beds, to keep slugs away from my vegetables. It's a win win! Do some extra research on comfrey (Russian Comfrey)! It's has SOOOO much value & benefits, in what it's used for. It's also used for healing!

@MsCherokee70
@MsCherokee70 3 жыл бұрын
@@marcelinanoss8825 don't need to know the NPK If im Using my preference...because it's a natural balance of using comfrey..(thats called chop & drop. Look it up.) Takes out most of the guess work, for NPK values. Plants and trees, take what EACH need. I grow many different types plants in mine, together. Some use more of one nutrition than its Companion tree & the tree uses a different one/value. They balance each other out. It's a lot to explain. Like all things, Take time to STUDY about companion planting....or "sister planting". Yes, fruit trees have companions too. Soooo Much to do & learn... so little time 🤦🏻‍♀️

I understand her husband much better. He is more serious and get to the point. Thank you for sharing vinegar and water to produce more flowers. Beside the wind blow flowers off the tree, But what cause the flowers to drop (baby fruits drop) and loose lots of leaves at most of the top branches. Is it stress? What about half of the tree branch turn yellow. Is it Lack of Fe, Mgso4, or sulfur? Why do some people bury match tip into the ground next to the citrus tree?
@marcelinanoss8825
@marcelinanoss8825 3 жыл бұрын
matches are made from Phosphorus first of all,, never heard that one before. The vinegar water remember is good for a few days and need to repeat as it washes out when you water it. No big deal though right? Vinegar is cheap. YOu need to examine the individual leaf and see if its veining green while the leaf is yellow.. Watch my video on FE, Iron deficiency. hope this helps...

There are three major types of citrus that fruit differently. 1. Lemons and limes are tropicals and can bloom almost any month of the year. They respond to tropical conditions of wet/dry season cycles. Water your lime tree sparingly for a few weeks, then fertilize and keep it watered properly as you showed and it will probably bloom, unless the temperature is too cold. That is almost the same as getting a bougainvillea to bloom outside the tropics. 2. Temperate mainstream citrus best bloom in late winter or early spring and if they bloom out of season, the fruit usually does not grow properly. 3. Kumquats and their hybrids may bloom later following a warm winter or may repeat blooming. I live on the Middle Texas coast and my mainstream citrus may fail to bloom in the spring if I don't pick all the fruit from the tree before about the end of January. If the tree is in a container and is somewhat root bound, and you repot it into a very large pot or barrel, it may go into a vegetative growth phase and skip blooming for quite some time. Go up in container size only one or two size at a time if you need fruit and not plant size.

when ever you buy a citrus plant, you have removed it from its comfort area, It goes into some kind of shock and needs time to adjust. It may even drop all of its leaves from the move. Find a good spot for it and leave it there. Moving it around all the time is the worst thing to do. Dont fertilize it off the bat, give it time to adjust with simple watering's. Dont ever water either as you will kill it. Remember, citrus like water, but not wet feet. Make sure it has good drainage. After 4 to 6 weeks, you can give it some Citrus-Tone fertilizer ( the best). Make sure your coil is around 65. pH too. And with time it will begin to bud new blossoms!! Good luck my friend :))

yeah!!! welcome to our channel,, how big is your calamansi now? You dont need a bigger pot unless your plants roots are getting cramped. Hi , just now I saw your video and it’s really great and very impressive. I lived in London. I have a big green house with room heater for winter season. I have one mature kaffir lime plant in a pot and last year I got lots of lime but now I just check it’s lost the scent and this year didn’t get any flowers yet. I have one Indian sweet lime and one Indian lime plant. I got lots of flowers but all fell off. Here weather is very cold now, 1 to 2 degrees temperatures in night and day time 4/5 degrees. Shall I switch off the room heater. Please can you guide me how I can look after my citrus plants.
@marcelinanoss8825
@marcelinanoss8825 6 ай бұрын
one thing about citrus is it likes a consistent temperature, If you have a fluctuating temperature, it will behave oddly such as dropping leaves, dropping fruitlets and blossoms. Don't shut the heater off or the cold could kill your citrus. Also its hard to give citrus the necessary light requirements in the winter without artificial lighting. Just try to keep your citrus tree happy in the winter months and you will see your blossoms bear fruit in the following spring/summer.

Hi, I have 5 lemon trees that I have planted from seeds from lemons that I purchased at the grocery store. My lemon trees are now 6 years old and will be 7 years this coming February. @marcelinanoss8825

eureka lemons are funny in trying to guess when they will bloom. I would try feeding your plant with a high phosphorus fertilizer which will stimulate the blooming process, make sure its getting lots of sunlight each day. Dont over water. In 6 months nothing happens. i would try grafting a Meyers on to it.

@marcelinanoss8825
@marcelinanoss8825 3 жыл бұрын
never wood ash for citrus,, this will make your soil alkaline and citrus is an acid-loving plant. You can only use wood ash on certain planttt Water stressing can work as it signals the plant to enter survival mode and the need to produce fruit for propagation. Pruning will promote new growth, but not necessarily blooming.

you have about 6 more years to wait:) Seeds take a long time,,, if you lemon is a hybridized lemon, you may get a different kind of fruit than you thought too. Growing lemons from seeds is fun and rewarding, but if you are looking for fruit, best to grow from a cuttings or graft. . These kind of trees will give you fruit immediately. Many of my newly rooted cuttings already have blossoms on them and i become sad to remove them to give the plant all its energy to make massive roots

that is the natural fruit production of citrus. Your tree doesnt want all that fruit on one branch, Most likely it would break the branch as well. Your tree selectively chooses which flower will produce the fruit.

I bought a Myers’s lemon tree last year . It did ok it would bloom and make small lemons then they fell off . Then fall came and it was blooming around Christmas I had it in the house. I pollinated it and the fruit fell off again. Then I moved the tree out in my out door kitchen with heat . Then it lost all the leaves , it’s the first of June now here in NC and it still has no leaves . I gave it some 10 10 10 still has not helped . The stalk is still green just no leaves . It’s been out side ever since frost was gone . Any help would be appreciated.

i know your frustration, moving it from indoors sends it initially into shock. Every time you take it to another location and the environment changes it will lose leaves and or blossoms. When's the last time you fertilized it? Also check your waters Ph and how much you are watering it, Everything matters to these plants. It should start to pop out new baby leaves once it adjusts to being outdoors again. Watch the video and i tell you what to do, thanks for commenting and good luck with your Meyers.

hmmm snow?? not good,,your citrus really need to be in a zone that stays above 50F Some varieties of citrus are more cold tolerant but 32 is not good. Many larger citrus grower burn smudge pots to stave off the frost from freezing the trees.
