Your reaction was priceless! Marcelito Pomoy taught himself this song, he has no classical training, rather taught himself how to sing from an early age. He learned this song by listening to a recording by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. His performance, considering that he requires a translator to carry on a conversation in English even though he understands it well but has trouble speaking it, is gorgeous. His native language is Philipino Tagalog, and he has no formal training. The recording engineer was teasing him about his female voice. That's why he spit her out at the end. Notice his big grin after doing that. He is singing now in English, Italian, Spanish and Chinese but he does not speak those languages. Possibility even more by now. He grew up on the streets from age 7 or 8. On September 21, 2014, Pomoy married Joan Paraiso of Calauag, Quezon, and they have one daughter, Marcella Janiah. He is very humble, helping out his neighbors with odd jobs and repairs, even though his reported net worth is around $5,000,000 USD. His ambition serves him well in whatever he does!

His story is even more fantastic. Marcelito was abandoned by his Mum, custody was then given to his Dad. Unfortunately his Dad was actually serving a prison sentence, This meant that Marcelito spent the first 2 years of his life in a prison cell with his Father. He was then adopted by a guard but it was not a good adoption or childhood. At 9 years old he discovered he was not their son and ran away. He survived by selling food snacks on the city streets. He says he taught himself to sing with 2 voices to combat the loneliness. Later he found he could earn extra singing in bars and cafe's. He met a girl, they fell in love and have got married, they now have a child of their own. He won Philipinnes Got Talent 2016 and has now been re-united with his birth father. Lastly, and I hope you are not offended, but you have one of the most gorgeous and radiant smiles I have seen.

So now its time for some breather :-) Its a refreshingly wonderful take on Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's The Prayer. Anyway, "doble cara" style singing contests are popular in the Philippines and its not uncommon for some Pinoys (what we Filipinos informally call ourselves ) to pull this kind of act so much so that sometimes contestants compete in split costumes to protray the other singer in case of a duet and turns the other side to sing the other voice. Marcelito Pomoy overcame many challenges in life and with pure talent and perseverance, won Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 last 2011 and is now a happily married man.
