You are one of my favorite channels. I have finished one quilt top that was at least 5 years old. I get bogged down on sewing borders. Lots more UFOs to sew. Good luck to you.

Haha. I use a whiteboard instead of a written list on paper. It’s easier to change that way.

Really like the colored blocks. I have used 3 flimsies and finished 3 quilts. Working on my nephew's quilt which will use another flimsy, so making a dent, I am happy with my progress.

I finished all the quilts I needed to finish to enter into our guild’s quilt show this weekend March 16 & 17 at the Madera, CA fair grounds Hatfield Hall. So if any readers are in California, come to see our show. We have 195 entries.

You made me feel so much better about not making much progress on my UFOs. Last month I did finish a quilt top, but my work life has gotten in the way. But I figure some progress is better than nothing.

I am still so loving all those bright colors, too...for your crumb/scrap quilt. I really don't have a lot of goals...other than I just would love to be be able to sew a little bit every day. I always have crumb/scrap blocks going. I probably have enough to make at least a full sized quilt. They are something I can sew when stressed. I am doing one of those Terry Rowland quilts...I can't remember what size her blocks are when finished, but mine will be 3 1/2 inches finished. I think I have about 380 of those blocks made. I have a couple things I would like to accomplish but too much to type!

I started January with a bang, completing Karen Brown's declutter challenge and making a list of all my UFOs, kits and projects that I would like to do. As of today, I have completed very little. I have stitched a baby quilt for a gift (baby due in June) but it just needs quilted and bound. I have been very busy, just not working on my list! I have stitched some self-binding baby blankets from flannel. Some will be gifted and some donated. Also made some flannel burp cloths. I think I just needed a break from my goals for a few weeks. Plus spring has arrived earlier than normal here and I've had the opportunity to do other things, some spring cleaning and clearing out.

My big goal for 2024 is to finish the 4 quilts I started for my kids about 30 years ago (yes, 30 years)! I did finish my oldest daughter’s quilt a while ago but then just left the other 3. Hers is a sampler quilt using Southwest colors that she chose. Now I’m working on my oldest son’s patriotic double Irish chain. I had it long armed a long time ago but I had her leave open places for me to hand quilt. That’s taking a while because of the arthritis I have in my hands. I’m also working on my youngest daughter’s Radiant Star quilt. She chose beautiful purple, pink and blue fabrics. I have all the wedges done so now I have to just put the top together and quilt it. I’m going to do simple machine quilting and the hand stitching will be big stitch quilting. My youngest son’s quilt isn’t started yet. It will be navy, red, and yellow Storm at Sea. But my goal for 2024 is to get them all completed. I’ll be so relieved!

I’m working on a pink queen size quilt for myself. It’s going to be gorgeous but it is at least “intermediate” if not “advanced.” So I’m doing it patches at a time until they develop into blocks. I bought this as a BOM in 2020, so it definitely qualifies as a WIP or a UFO-call it what you will! 😊 I have a fun challenge: this pattern was written NOT using any of our more modern tricks and construction methods so I’ve had to make adjustments on every block. I’m feeling pretty proud of myself, I don’t mind saying, because I’ve been successful in the process! ❤

Thanks for the reminder. I want to change my power bar to get off the floor as well. I am currently putting binding on a a UFO from last spring. I will post when finished. I have cut a backing for an even older UFO. Even though i like your crumb /string quilt i hesitate to start another as i have a UFO string quilt made in colors blocks so you know that i should finish that one. Have some babies and a wedding coming this year so you know what that means. I make bags as well so i geuss i could post them too. Thank you. Love your you tube.😊

Your first set of goals, I would probably change March to June. For me that would be more realistic. I sort of think small scraps and crumbs are sort of the same. I love all the bright, colorful blocks you are making with scraps.
@thesimplequilter74994 ай бұрын
I may need to do just that! I like those bright blocks too!

Since you post ways to simplify quilting and less expensive quilting plus help for quilters with some impairments, here's what I found: I was browsing the AQ June Tailor products and found the Perfect Piecing transparent paper for printing FPP patterns. I avoid FPP because you can't clearly see where the fabric is placed to sew the lines, especially if you want to "fussy" some pattern on the fabric. With this printable paper you can print FPP patterns and applique figures on the transparent paper. Oh my! the price! $14.99 for 25 sheets (60 cents/sheet) and the 50 sheet pack at $24.99 (50 cents/sheet). So I went to Amazon (where else?) and found Cridoz 50 Sheets Vellum Paper 8.5 x 11 Inches Translucent Clear for Printing for $7.99 for a pack of 50 sheets (16 cents/sheet) plus for me it's free shipping. Printing on clear paper for applique designs would be fantastic. You could print PDF files directly on this transparent paper.

I'm finally making some progress! My second Lori Holt club session will be this Saturday and I have 2 blocks done and I'll be making pillow covers with those for my living room couch. I joined the Saturday Sampler program at my local shop this Month and I already have the first block done and I'm ready for next month. I have picked out most of the fabrics I want to use for my Snowflake Quilt, I'm going with fat quarters ranging from navy to to an icy blue along with some gingham squares I already had, and low volume fat quarters with blue gray prints for the snowflake part. Next things I'll be working on starching my snowflake fabrics and fabrics for Sew Scrappy Spools quilt, and making a quilt block keeper to store my completed monthly blocks in a pretty way. My only goals were Snowflake quilt this year, and do more quilting projects.
@thesimplequilter74994 ай бұрын
You are making progress! I still really haven’t found the light green fabrics I need for the green snowflake quilt…I Amy be using the other fabrics…
@cherrygingham4 ай бұрын
@@thesimplequilter7499 If you do go with your second choice fabrics for the Snowflake quilt I'm sure it will be gorgeous. From the fabrics you showed I would guess you're considering the version that looks like a buffalo check with a contrasting snowflake? Those are so striking! If I ever do a second one that, is the style I would make.
@thesimplequilter74994 ай бұрын
@@cherrygingham Yes, that is the layout I would use. Light light greens are hard to find!

I set a few 2024 goals. To finish my UFOs. I define a UFO as a project that has been collecting dust for more than 2 years. I started 2024 with 8 - now down to 7 and 3 of those just require bindings. I also set the goal of creating NO new UFOs so all my Works In Progress can not sit around for longer than 2 years so I am working all 2022 projects this year. And any new projects - I have selected 8 - must become flimsies before I start another new project. And to buy no more fabric except backing but I failed this goal in January😂. I set monthly goals that sometimes get accomplished and sometimes don't. March is shaping up to be a good month. I have 4 items on my list and 2 are long term projects that I work on monthly. 1 is a UFO that is completed. I set my goals each quarter with an index card for each month. I add the remaining items from the previous month to the new month and try to work them in. This seems to help me keep organized and focused
@thesimplequilter74994 ай бұрын
The no more buying fabric goal is always a hard one! You have a good system in place!

I’m slowly but surely working towards completing my UFOs.I made the decision to put my leader/ender project on hold. It makes me feel like I’ve got too much going on at once. I did complete the rehab of my vintage Kenmore completed and she purrs like a kitten. So I feel pretty good about where I sit with my list of things I’d like to accomplish this year.

Always such great, practical advice, thank you. I didn’t really set any quilting goals, but I am working on purging my sewing room. After a few days, I take another look, and there is usually more I find that I don’t use. So I guess regarding organization, I am hitting that goal.:) And for quilting, loving a QAL in which I’m participating. Love your crumb blocks! So bright and happy!♥️
