And now for something new that will appear on occasion. This is the first of a scattered series of old Christian radio recordings (often called airchecks); many coming from the old WXRI-FM 105.3 in Norfolk, VA (now contemporary hit radio station WNOH; the station was owned at the time by Pat Robertson's Continental Broadcasting Network).

I used to live in Va Beach and listen to WXRI daily.. the Jesus music molded my life and it still speaks to me. Thanks for uploading this. I'd love to hear many more hours of WXRI.

Hey guys. I discovered this a while back and... that's me, Jeff! I'm the guy who you hear on this aircheck. I had started at WXRI doing afternoon drive just three months earlier, in January. I had been in radio since I was in my mid teens, and when I got the job at WXRI, it was a prayer answered. I'd dreamed of working there, and I did afternoon drive and loved it. I tell people that the job at WXRI was probably my most fun job in almost 40 years of radio. Alas, CBN decided to sell WXRI in March of 89, and sadly, I was the last guy on the air that night. I worked until midnight, turned the transmitter off, and cried all the way home. Still can't believe CBN let WXRI go they way they did! Whoever posted this... thanks for the memories. I still have pictures of me in that very studio, playing "Today's Christian Music".

i wish someone could post the station theme song......................let the weekend go with radio.......................let your spirit fly,wild and high.................feel the music of your time dancing all around you..............let your life go perfectly ,with continental radio wxri OOONNNEEE OOOOO ....FFFIIIVVVEEE.

Those jingles were from the Continental Radio days. I have good copies of some of the Continental jingles, as well as the original tapes of the ones you hear here!
