The World Cup is played every 4 years. 32 national teams are split into 8 groups of 4 teams. Those 4 teams then play each other once in the group phase. The top 2 highest finishers in each group advance to the knockout rounds. Then you have 16 teams left after the group phase it’s single knockout ties all the way to the final game, ‘championship game’.

Just to let you know the team in the yellow kit playing France at the 2010 World Cup was South Africa not Brazil, The 2010 World Cup was Played in South Africa so that means the host nation automatically qualifies to play at the World Cup.

basically the world cup is when teams who qualify play each other. you're put into groups, or like mini leagues w 4 teams total. the top 2 teams in each league stay in and the rest go home. then every team plays a one and done game until only one team is left

The World Cup starts with group stage. 8 groups of 4 teams. You play all of the teams in your group once. If you win you get 3 points, if you draw you get 1 and if you lose you get 0. After all teams in a group have played each other, the 2 teams from one group that had most points advance to the knockout stage which is similar to the March Madness tournament, one game, whoever wins goes through.

World Cup is a tournament of like 8 groups , 4 teams per group. Teams play each other in those groups to earn points, 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw , 0 if you lose. The top 2 teams after the games are played move onto the knockout stages where tier 1 teams, play the 2nd best teams of the groups . whoever wins moves, as it’s single elimination . Last 2 teams play the final , while their is also a third place game

WORLD CUP FORMAT EXPLAINED: Summary: World cup is a Cup an International, Nation team competition (so countries Brazil, USA,England, Italy etc etc etc ) it goes: Group stage 8 groups of 4 , top 2 from each group go into the "Knock out stages" Then you have last 16 , Quarter finals, Semi Finals , and the World Cup final, that decides the winner (these are Knockout stages) If you want detail about each stage see below GROUP STAGE: The Group stage is a League, each team plays each other once, so 3 games in the group. there are 8 of these 4 team leagues , 3 games (once each against the other teams in the league) the bottom 2 are out. Top 2 go through Each game is standard league format , 90mins, you CAN draw at the end of 90 mins. 3 points for a Win, 1 point for a Draw 0 for a Loss. 2 with the most points qualify for the Knock out stages. You have 8 groups of 4 teams that play each other one time, so every country plays 3 games against the other teams on the group, then the winner and runner up of the group goes to the knock out round. I think we can put it in NBA terms so basically: - There's 8 groups of 4 teams each that play super short "regular season" before the elimination stages - The points of the "regular season" are awarded like this (Win, 3 points, Draw, one point, Loss, no points) and so they build the standings like that - After the lil regular season the top 2 teams from each of the eight groups advances to the elimination stages - so there's 16 teams left and here begins the playoffs part like the NBA

There's lots of games in the world cup. Your country usa is in it so you would support them and then when they get knocked out you can follow a country's team that you like or you like a player from that nation like Ronaldo for Portugal or whatever.

Its 7 games in total if you get to the Semi's total 7 games after the Final and 3rd /4th place Playoff 3 Games in the Group stage and 4 games in the Knock Out stage So you can lose maybe 1 game in the group and get away with it and you NEED to win 1 You might be able to draw the other Group game but to be safe you probably need to win it. So minimum, you need to win 5 games out of 7, but more likely, you need to win 6 games out of 7, and once you get out of the group you cannot lose so the minimum winning streak for a World Cup winner is 4 wins in a row, the maximum would be 7 wins in a row, most common is probably 5 (as most teams do not win all group games , even World cup winners, and some teams that win all group games go out in Knockouts, you get easy groups and you get hard groups

(That’s called the group stage) Then you get to the “knockout round” where it’s one game WIN OR GO HOME literally all the way down to the final and the winner is the best and last standing. If the games goes to penalties, each team gets 5 shots, and the outcome ends after 5 unless tied with same amount scored or missed, it continues

World Cup is not one game. Group stage, and then knockout stage. Once you advance from group stage by playing all the teams in your group, you go to knock out. Same concept as Champions League. If you are a favorite to win the World Cup, then you are easily expected to advance to knockout and reach at least final 4. Going home from the group stage is like losing in R32 in the NCAA tournament.
