OMG. I came here looking for their performance because I missed it live (and on TV)... I'm so happy to see they made it. Seeing the ending choreography with their legs was so nostalgic I actually burst out with a heartwarming laugh and teared up. It's been 15 years and it's crazy to think how far they've come. We didn't even have a drum line in my days! I'm extremely proud of this group and all of the performers at the parade for the holiday to entertain and honor us all. Stay committed to that excellence, in everything you strive to do~. ;)

Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!!! I was marching with South Dakota State University, and I really wanted to see all the other bands perform!!!! Everyone did an amazing job and I’m so happy we all got to have this opportunity!!!!! Great job everyone!!!!!!

Is the green and logo on the road painted on or a tarp or something? I can't seem to find any answers just doing google searches. Figure I'd ask someone who's actually been on it.

Vandegrift is so lucky to be performing at the Thanksgiving parade on live television in New York City! I really wish our school had that opportunity!

HS color guard production from Tarpon Springs, FL high school bands stuck out the most- Amazing! Happy and impressed to see the Veracruz HS team showcased in this parade all the way from Mexico!- WOW! IMO, the Best overall HS band was Carmel HS from Indiana. The marching drills from Fresno were difficult and they did great. All of the HS bands were awesome. Great American band was also great but it's not fair to pick them because they are comprised of the best of the best. Mizzou was wonderful- Love Southern marching bands! But, I think we need more HS bands in this parade! Thanks for compiling and sharing!!

While I completely agreed with the judges at Bands of America's Grand Nationals who rated Carmel as the best band this year, in terms of how the bands came across on this broadcast, I was surprised to find little Bourbon County had more clarity. It's hard to plan for camera and microphone placement!

Vandegrift from Austin by far the best! Most ambitious music selection (1812 Overture) and dancers also great with a non twerk choreography!!

The announcers didn't mention this, but while the second half of Vandegrift's performance was the 1812 Overture, the first half was the fourth movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.

But tarpon is definitely up there too. Lol can’t knock them. They have fantastic showmanship on top of their unmatched technical ability. Every year the woodwinds play runs for their entire show and it never fails to be great. Definitely check out their performances.

Texas 6A state champs, the second straight year for a band from the Live Music Capital (Ann Richards School last year, delayed like everyone else from 2020). Speaking of 2020, the Big Apple Corps played that modified event, so this was their debut in a normal Macy's parade.

You guys looked like you had a great time! Great job. I was able to walk along with my son on trumpet and film in 2016 with Greendale HS. And will go again in 2023. The crowds along the route are SO FUN!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! I marched as a sax and 3 years in color guard, enjoyed every minute. Although I never marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, we marched in Philadelphia PA for the 200th Constitutional Celebration, it was awesome! Love the Birdland!!

Thank you for sharing this video. I love to watch the bands. I understand television has to keep it moving but each band needs more than fifteen seconds to perform. I would rather watch the bands perform live than to watch some star lip sing their full song.

Ofcourse none of these "awards" are official.

Might be biased but I think Bourbon County had the best performance. :P But all the bands were great, was there in the grandstands and we all cheered loud for every one of them!

Most of the bands were good. My bar is set high, our marching band marched in this parade 50 years ago this year! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJ2TlMufya6onXU.html Is the parade so start/stop that bands are forced to run to get to the staging performance area? That was weird to see.

The running onto the star is part of their rehearsal. The band gets to the starting red line about 2-3 minutes before they are cued to perform. They have 1 minute and 15 seconds to perform.

Just an observation, but most bands these days don't really march, do they?! Oh well, the music still sounds great!

Guess it depends on what you mean by "really march", but at least for the high school bands, they have full marching shows, and this was something extra at the end of the season. It's also really hard to do something visually with drill in such a small area with such large groups.

I don’t know about the other bands here, but Vandegrift just won Texas state for “really” marching, you can look up their performance, and all the other bands that performed at that competition
