It was 4 for me. Got them removed in March of the year I graduated high school. One of my friends got me a "Congratulations on your naked teeth!" bracelet.

I had them for a year and a half but was going to be 2 years. I was 12 when they went on, sadly i was bullied and were called names like Braceface and train tracks. I was one of the first in my year to have them. So when others began to get them later in life, I was like so how do you feel now?

Agree. Plus in the episodes where discipline had to be given he was effective in those scenes. He was a good actor.

Great acting ability aside, Bob Reed really did care about the children like they were his own. As a "mature" gay man myself, I find myself naturally protective of kids I've connected with, maybe in part because I'll never have them traditionally. It's really no surprise he was way more comfortable being a father figure than doing the kissing scenes with a woman. (Though even through his discomfort, he still did them convincingly!)

@@AndrewMacLaineyes apparently he was very close with them and acted as a real life father figure to them. The trip to England to learn more about Shakespeare etc.

Much of it was real in terms of the crying scenes. Maureen later admitted she was going through a lot of personal trials, and the crying scenes allowed her to let out her frustration and sadness.

I can't recall any other child or adult actor on this show shedding real tears other than MoMo in season 1 and 2. It ultimately exemplifies how much more life dramatic the earlier seasons were and how fluffy they were later.

That’s what I posted obviously, Cindy and Bobby were just an absolute stand set a few corny lines. Peter was pretty cool. Jam was pretty cool. Greg was a good little character, but Marsha the first two years she was a fantastic actress. She would laugh she she was fantastic and we all remember the best one was when she did follow the year. She couldn’t tell her dad why she was outside. I mean, brilliant young actress she should be very proud looking back.

@@RB2331I like Peter a lot but Bobby was a better actor than him. Especially, as they got older. Mike definitely had more storylines/dialogue then Chris for this reason.

Oh brotha! Marcia was the one character that always had superficial storylines: braces, gettin hit on the nose, being a drama queen when she had the lead in the play, trippin on her first day of high school, wanting to be cheerleader.

To a kid, getting braces/glasses is telling them they are defective. And thus, they are "ugly" and cursed with a reason to be made fun of. Marcia's lashing out was actually a realistic defense mechanism for a child. She felt life treated her unfairly, so she felt she was the victim and therefore hurt people before they would hurt her. I'm not saying this is a modern issue, but...

@@AndrewMacLaine That's ridiculous! No one was hurting Marcia, she had the one of the best families anybody could hope for. I understand where she's coming from. She's a child, she feels ugly, and she afraid of being fun of. I used to be a child and I had more than my share of that. But if I'd treated people like dirt because of it, I've have gotten a good hard swat, and rightfully so.

I always hated Marcia. So vain and self-absorbed. When Peter and Bobby were playing football and accidentally hit Marcia in the face, I bemoaned the fact that they were playing football instead of learning to operate a steamroller.
