Law enforcement background should not matter for a senator, but unfortunately it does matter because people idolize the police. Don't lend credence to Republican police bootlicking. Val is great because she supports the right policies, not because of her police background.

Exactly. I don't get the whole stance with some Democrats and leftists about "being too aggressive" on the debate stage. Being aggressive is EXACTLY what they need to do more of!

I think the Pakman fans who questioned her style weren't citing it as a blemish on THEIR view of her, but just imagining how she might come off to certain other kinds of people (need I say?). I, against my better nature, was picking up 'pantsuit Hillary' vibes from watching this, before David even brought up the commenters' concerns. And he did acknowledge what they meant about the gender double standard, but I would assert that it's twice as taboo if the woman is also black (and rather dark-skinned at that). I feel sick even writing this stuff, but again we're talking about the viewpoint of certain kinds of people. And maybe I actually should clarify what I mean by that, because the ones who would show their behinds and talk out loud about her being an "uppity little ____ ____ ," -they wouldn't vote for the Democrat nominee even if it had blonde hair, blue eyes, a d!ck and a cowboy hat. What I'm talking about is Centrists including Centrist Democrats, some portion of whom are a certain kind of people but don't know they are, the kind who would dislike her boldness without saying (or maybe even REALIZING) that the boldness would be okay if she were Democrat Senate Candidate Cowboy Dickhaver. Not to say these people will vote for Rubio instead. Some might, and all it might take is seeing so many minutes of her black-haired head turned sideways, her brown finger pointed at him, her loud female voice "barking" at him, without absorbing anything she's actually saying. Certain people will feel sympathy for him, just from seeing both of their body language; they'll have vague memory triggers of when a black person or a woman made them feel small. But other Centrists might just not vote at all, saying they don't "like" either candidate. And ha, let's get real here, a TON of people call themselves "Centrists" or "Independents" because it sounds like having a mixture of opinions on issues they have pondered deeply, sounds a lot better than "I really don't pay attention to politics", the actual truth. Such people will vote purely on whether they "like" a candidate (and they may have latent misogynistic and/or racist criteria, realizing it or not) ..... OR ....... they'll make any excuse they can think of to skip voting.

I LOVVVVED that part. But admittedly, a tiny part of that love was from the 11-year-old boy living deep inside my 48-year-old woman self. His name is Zach (obviously) and all he sees is humor. He heard this woman's disappointment paired with the sincerity of granting Rubio better personhood in the past, personhood now tarnished by greed and cynicism .....and he blurted out, "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!"

I will never forget the first time Marco Rubio showed me who he was. I thought 'must be nice' as despite having a decent-ish government job, enough to pay my basic living expenses anyway, a satellite radio subscription would definitely be a luxury. And I swear to god, that very moment of feeling kinda sorry for myself, I watched a huge black man pass through the intersection on a bicycle, and I'm talking about a small child's bicycle, with a heat index of 109 F; his shirt and pants were utterly soaked through with sweat. This man wasn't doing this for fun; this was his transportation. And I'm listening to this Marie Antoinette m'fer talking about "let them listen to satellite radio."

Regardless of the actual reality of those things, people like to complain about stuff, so if they have politicians telling them they're getting screwed, they'll be more inclined to agree with it. If you have a patent and no competition, you have a monopoly. Insulin is not elastic. If Insulin gets more expensive, you can't just buy less insulin. You have to buy it no matter what the price is. So the market forces don't work! Now, let me explain how prices are set. The company has to show its expenses. It has to prove that the price is justified. And then they add a small margin on top of it to make it profitable and fix the price. The market doesn't always work! Drug development is too risky. So there isn't much competition. And if you are ill, you need the drug no matter what. So you are willing to pay anything. It is called a market failure. Those are real!!!
