This is their alternative take on ‘Looking Through The Ilex’ from the recently released Signals album. Where the original version is epic, dramatic and cinematic in scope as an album-closing track, this version “is a darker take, going down a more electronic route. It came about from us playing the track live in the studio.”
It moves along moodily, both compulsive and compelling, combining both irresistible groove and ambient in a way that is uniquely Marconi Union.
More than just an alternative version, this a very much music in its own right.
