Erbium is my favourite element. Largely because it was part of two separate research jobs. I studied it as a dopant in optical fibres and then again a few years later as an alloying element in steel. It was great in both roles. In fact I have never found a problem that Erbium won't solve (in cases where I have tried to use Erbium).

I have a very similar Argon laser, plus another that I've shown in a vid. I haven't used them in years, but they make for great heaters. lol And I used to build / splice EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fibre Amplifier) devices when I worked for Nortel. I would probably still remember how to use the diamond cutter and a splicing machine, but it's been many years. Splicing machines are fascinating to watch, no matter how many hundreds of splices I'd done.

Seems like you are missing the driver of the french A+A PCAOM. They are the most efficient PCAOMs money can buy and are worth a lot more still then the money you paid complete (I have one). However alignment of them is very crucial to achieve the optimal efficiency. Gas lasers are never really efficient but that argon can be a tad higher in output perhaps.. I do know argon/krypton is even less efficient.. my argon/krypton purelight star 2 C outputs 5.6 watts but takes in 18000 watts.
