Rare action & incar footage onboard of Finland´s rising rally star Marcus Grönholm giving the all-new Peugeot 206 WRC its maiden win in the Mänttä 200 Rally in Finland ahead of the WRC Rally Finland 1999. Back in the days various teams and factory team drivers used the Mänttä 200 Rally as a test event for the upcoming 1000 Lakes/Rally Finland later in the summer - and in addition to Marcus the 1999 line-up included Carlos Sainz with his Toyota Celica as well as Armin Schwarz with his Skoda Octavia.
(That camera angle pointing backwards was propably shot in a test session since there´s no start number on the side of the car)

Weird seeing the early version of the 206 WRC without the shifter on the steering wheel. The steering wheel of the later 206 WRC versions is iconic.

Whenever privateers get the 206s, they revert back to the sequential gear shift, think there's more maintenance with the paddle shifts.

awful shame peugeots next project didnt live up to the expectations the 206 set marcus had potential for more than 2 for sure. the 2 wasted 307 years definitely didnt help. he came really close later with ford.

"kirraa" means that the turn is tightening towards the end. "eri" means basically that the turn is a medium turn.

rallyivan1234 ? Yes, the engine block is the same. But that's it, nothing else. The rest are "successor" parts (upgraded). The 206 has less hp, but more torque, while the T16 is the other way around. You can't say that it has the same engine because it uses the same block.. that's like saying all V8 engines are the same because they have 8 cylinders. :/

+Alexandre J. Paixão I googled a bit and it seems that Jaakkola has been Grönholms co-driver some time also. But in this video it definately is Rautiainen as you can hear the name at 8:13 and even barely see it in the car window.
