Sinhagad, also known as the Fort of the Lion, is a hill fortress located near the city of Pune in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is believed to have been built by the Yadava dynasty in the 13th century, and it has a long and storied history.
One of the most famous episodes in the history of Sinhagad involves the Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj. According to legend, Shivaji Maharaj was determined to capture the fort, which was then held by the Mughals. He and his army laid siege to the fort, but they were unable to take it by force.
