I was brought here on St. David's Day via Dean Robert of Canterbury Catherdral, during morning prayers. I love making Welsh Cakes, but it is lovely to hear the wonderul Margaret John,

Thank you so much for this recipe in ounces! I was beginning to think that I was the only person who still used pounds and ounces. I grew up in England and left before metrification so I never became familiar with grams! And to make things more challenging for me - in Canada we use cups! Nice recipe - thank you.

Maragret John is such a character who has proved that you can make a 1st rate career in old age. Great seeing her making welsh cakes lol. Spot-on recipe too. I'm glad she didn't add any spice or nutmeg or other muck English people put in Welsh cakes!

No she didn’t. No spice is needed. It is highly unlikely that original traditional Welsh cakes were made with expensive spices. They were made by farmers’, crofters’ and miners’ wives.

Trysor y Cenedl. National Treasure. Nuff Said. Lol welsh cakes are the only thing my Mamgu (Gran) can't make properly even though she's a fab cook (That's the one thing my Mam makes better than she does xP). She either makes them too thin or over cooks them a little. I'll have to show her this video. =P "Nigella eat your heart out."
