Louise has a right to her views. Nobody compares Pope Francis to the Yorkshire Ripper. I was a child in Yorkshire during the time of the Ripper, believe me he caused far more fear than Louise Mensch has done. Louise is clever, beautiful and witty, she is a credit to the 90s generation.

Which shows that underneath all the "edgy" comedy, Frankie Boyle is just another left wing, grievance mongering panderer to the failed Marxist ideology. Perhaps we should nationalise comedians, and take all their money, Frankie would be glad to have all his money taken away, and live in a state owned council house. What no?

Yes, I remember the three day week under Margaret Thatcher, the corpses piling up in mortuaries, the constant strikes, and the complete shambles. Hang on, no wait, that wasn't her was it? So many statues to Michael Foot, and Dennis Healey, those savours of the British Isles. But I'll give you that, public sector parasites and state leaches didn't get such a good ride as they do now, as they suck the work sweat of the working man. Still next Labour government, sure will fix that, don't you know.

The sad truth is that many deluded (and increasingly greedy) people DID vote for Thatcher. My father, to his eternal regret, voted for her in '79 despite voting against the Tories in every other election before and since. Thatcher was a single-minded menace, but she rode on a wave of like-minded greedy aspiration of people who weren't happy with what they already had. People are, unfortunately, like that and not much has changed.

Thatcher was historically unpopular in her 2nd term, and the unpopular Michael Foot was polling over 50% before the SDP split off and the Falklands War. Alexei Sayle and actually a lot of alternative comedians of the 80s helped me through with my History lessons at School. Because of the 80s humour, this motivated me to learn about Stalin, Trotsky, Marx and Lenin. That and my Dad (being an ex Sgt in The parachute regiment) insisted we watched the local and international news every bleeding night in order to know what is going down in the world . By the time I was 14 I had a pretty good idea and a healthy view on politics. Needless to say that when it came for my time to vote, I had no ideas whose policies actually makes sense, and to be honest, nothing has changed.

I never quite understood how being 'strong' (narcissitic/sociopathic) and intransigent (stubborn to the point of psychopathy!) could be seen as virtues or somehow to be aspired to. Thatcher did have a t the very least a borderline personality disorder and was in fact a terrible politician. She almost single-handedly decimated British manufacturing, she sold off all council houses leaving very little social housing for future generations, she privatised things like energy, trains and telecommunications (hence all the problems we have today!) and she sold off energy companies to foreign conglomerates and thoroughly wasted north sea gas. She was truly appalling but made everybody believe she was a goddess. She was truly awful

He said bastard. I bet the phones were ringing off the hook when that happened. Quick and simple apology to the viewers, well done. I personally didn't give a flying shit and the fact that the anchor apologized at the end for Alexis' "word" surprised me and almost pissed me off, wtf? I then realized that the station and tv networks have a reputation to keep up so the short apology was actually a good thing considering their circumstance. If the anchor started apologizing like a lil kid that's not trying to get into trouble, I would then call in myself and tell them to censor themselves less because they're making themselves look like little babies caring more about political correctness rather than presenting the facts and the shitty opinions of their guests.

Why would the Tory women oil her forehead so heavily when preparing for on-camera appearance??? This isn't meant as political commentary - I'm genuinely curious.

Weird isn't it; I hated Thatcher and what she did to us, but now I hate Labour. Meanwhile, Mench continues her career as a traitor to all things good and honest.

When England has a leader who can find solutions instead of creating or exercerbating problems, then I will call him or her a hero. One that addresses at it´s roots the problems of war, crime and homelessness. Instead of convincing people that these things are necessary. A leader who encourages alternative energy. More win win co-operation instead of needlessly ruthless cut throat competition.

Privativation is not bad however over privativation is very bad. There has to be a public alternative or the companies will rob the coffers blind and pay the politicians to look the other way. MT had her time and was needed to compensate for Callaghan's mess. Later she went too far the other direction and made another kind of mess. No middle of the roader's on either side of the Atlantic.

Unfortunately, the most determined psychopaths have always had the best odds of assuming positions of power. It certainly didn't start with Thatcher. Alexei could do to read a bit of Caesar's works or those of Tiglath Pilaser.

@ 4.20 Mench states that harriet Harman praised Maggie in the strongest possible way (Harman is a feminist [ie, insecure, badly-done-to woman]), probably for leading the way for women- but actually Maggie HATED feminists, she stated 'I owe them NOTHING'. So maybe Mench should get her facts correct first. I am (sort of) a fan of Thatcher's - I am certainly not a lefty, but I do think Sayle is a great comedian. A person does not have to agree with someone's politics to like them.PS. I DO NOT VOTE

the majority of people in this country want PR - the AV referendum was a pointless charade because nobody understands AV. It was a bit like recognising that a lot of people want to leave the EU and having a referendum on leaving NATO.
