Margin VS futures, what's the difference? This video will look at the differences between trading crypto on margin and futures on Bitget Exchange in Canada 🇨🇦. This video isn't applicable for only Canadians though. Note that Bitget is not available to residents of Alberta. I have seen people KYC with a passport and a VPN. Do this at your own risk though. Hey thank you for this informative video it was very helpful for a Bitget user from Belgium 😃🇧🇪 I have a question about the Future market. when you open a short position it borrows the crypto sells it at the current price and then buy it later when the price has gone down and your profit is the difference between the first price and second price. I understand that there is a liquidation price since you are borrowing the crypto and selling it without it being yours. But when you open a long position why is there a liquidation price since you are buying the crypto? Keep it up 💪🏻

Hey thanks for the donation, I appreciate it! In a long position you can get liquidated because you're also borrowing to increase your position size. When your assets/position is worth roughly the amount that you've borrowed then you get liquidated. Scenario: You have $100 and you 10X. You're now playing with $1,000 ($100 yours and $900 borrowed). Excluding interest, trade fees and margin maintenance, should your position become $900, you would get liquidated. This would be a drop of roughly 10%. The $100 of your money is taken/gone and the $900 you borrowed is returned to Bitget. Does that make sense?

@@cryptoforcanadians When you take a long position with 2x leverages it means that your position will get liquidated if the price drops with 50% if i understand correctly that means if you do not use leverage your liquidation price will be -100% but isnt it strange since you are actually buying a contract not like short position.

Yes in theory that's correct but there are funding fees, trading fees and margin maintenance to factor in so it's not exactly 50%, it would be like 45% as an example. I don't have the exact number.

@CryptoforCanadians oh so the liquidation price is just there because if the price would go down 100% in a long position then you would not be able to pay the funding fees?

Liquidation price should include the factors that I've addressed.

Yeah Bitget got removed from the App store recently. I'm not sure why it's saying service restricted. The only province that they don't support is Alberta. Is your internet connected to one of those provinces through a server by chance?

@Alexi781 the interest is based on your open or outstanding position, not on your funds in your account.

Hi does paytrie is safe right now in ontario,canada for crypto.Can i swap some etherium for usdc so i can send them to metamask?because for ndax i have to use etherium or matic which is expensive as compared to optimism and arbitrium

Yes PayTrie is safe. But keep in mind that you can only buy or sell USDC with cash on PayTrie. You would first need to sell your ETH elsewhere, cash that out and then buy on PayTrie with cash. As for NDAX though, you can sell your ETH for CAD, then immediately buy USDC.

This video here should help you out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9Rhg7ag37HDo4k.html. Although the video is on buying, do the opposite and instead of buy, click on sell. Once you've sold your ETH for CAD, you can then withdraw it. Hope that helps!
