L'unico vibrato che ho sentito in 70 anni di vita, l'ho sentito cantato dalla Callas. E lo canta con una facilità ed una perfezione che sembra annullare la difficoltà della frase musicale. Grazie, Maria, per ciò che hai fatto al mondo della musica ed a noi che non potremo mai sdebitarci e che resteremo per sempre tuoi.

The most amazing thing about Callas is that, even after her "vocal peak", she delivered ANY piece with such professoral virtuosism and profound emotion that makes all the others sound like "good students", while she's still the "teacher". Even with her really bad voice in the farewell tour, each piece was executed with such intense phrasing, meaning, intention, that we can actually listen to something magical, even not being fully there anymore. She gives us a dream. Her voice in this video was not at the peak (I prefer La Scala 1953 and the earbreaking 1951 from Napoli versions) but the rendition is so engaging, hypnotizing, touching and complex, that it blows my mind.

it's amazing that she was able to achieve such dramatic effect with such minimalism of movement. While other singers flail their arms and contort their faces, her arms barely move and her face is filled with sincere emotion. it's because of the inner fire she had that made the smallest movement or expression dramatically effective because they were sincere.

And what about what she was able to convey with her hands? Last year in Sirmione (Italy) an exhibition was dedicated to her entitled 'the voice of the hands - Maria Callas and the Italians”.

Eu simplesmente vivo na época e pais errado. Quando digo q amo opera, canto lírico e músicas clássicas, tem gente q acha engraçado. É como se eu fosse de outro planeta. Me faz tão bem essas música, é de uma paz q invade o coração e a alma da gente Linda demais essa voz

And, as if all this unique nobility of style wasn't enough, she masterfully sings (minute 5:02) the phrase of high C, B.flat with diminuendo and D flat in a masterful way, defining what legato is in this very high part of register.

Non so chi sei abituato ad ascoltare e non mi interessa, ma so di certo che non ci sarà mai più un soprano con una voce spinta e con una tale intensità interpretativa così credibile, come la sua.

@Star Sistem - Questa è una registrazione del 1958, realizzata con la tecnologia disponibile quasi 65 anni fa! Pertanto è normale che certi acuti possano risultare non perfettamente 'puliti'. Ad ogni modo ringrazi il Cielo per questo documento di eccezionale valore dal momento che, purtroppo, le esibizioni in video di Maria Callas si possono contare sulle dita di una mano! Se poi proprio non Le piace la più grande artista dell'opera lirica del XX secolo può anche passare al secolo attuale ed ascoltare ad esempio la voce di Anna Netrebko della quale troverà una infinità di video su KZfaq. In tal modo farà certamente felici i suoi occhi gratificando soprattutto le Sue orecchie da fine intenditore di Belcanto 👍🏻😏👍🏻
