Gianera John That is a very sad statement about Bing. He died almost alone. Terasa Stratas & Anna Moffo found him & put him in a home for the elderly. He was diagnosed with Dementia. Just like Callas everyone abandoned them @ the end. Everyone loves you when your on top of the 🌎 my friend regardless of your circumstances.Like my Father said it's a beautiful thing to die when you are surrounded by those you deeply love 💘. @@arnoldamaral7406 Roberta Peters was one of his few colleagues that attended his funeral. She later said in an interview that it was so sad, because by then he had no friends, because he had been so disliked. Very few people were at his funeral. But she was still grateful to him, as he basically molded and built her career.

condivido, una donna capricciosa, con una voce che non aveva assolutamente nulla di bello, e ha fatto la fine che ha fatto,ha seminato vento e ha raccolto tempesta, semplice. Una carriera tra l'altro breve per le sue follie d'amore, parlava tanto di disciplina nel canto ma nella vita c'è chi ne ha avuta veramente e ha cantato per molti più anni e soprattutto non si è rovinata né vocalmente, né la vita stessa, questa è la differenza tra essere intelligente ed essere semplicemente delle capricciose. Mai sopportata questo soprano, tra l'altro in quegli anni, esistevano voci molto ma molto più belle e forse anche più serrate tecnicamente, cito solo a titolo di esempio la Cerquetti ma giusto giusto per fare un nome a caso, se poi la paragoniamo alla longevità vocale interpretativa della Magda era il nulla e lo testimoniano gli anni di carriera. Cantante ampliamente sopravvalutata se non per Traviata, Lucia e Norma.

The public loved her because she was much more than just a voice, be it in decline or not, unlike many other singers from the period who just belted out the notes - she was a sublime musician which in turn helped her be a sublime actress.

Dim Lian she sang Norma many times in the US. Including in Chicago and The MET. Bing wanted her to switch performances between Macbeth and Violetta she said “my voice is not an elevator.”

Then Bing was an idiot who understood nothing of the vocal art. In this particular clip I heard her complain about being offered "routines", not roles so vocally different. She was right to say no.

Dim Lian I feel like the main issue was the Violetta/Macbeth thing and I think here she just let loose all her grievances with the Met and Bing. Which included old productions and asking her to perform with a different performer every night
