Mesmerisingly beautiful. Listening to her voice is like hearing the sounds of an angel at the doors to heaven. Truly amazing and one of a kind! In times of such depression and sadness for me personally, I thank Our Lord for having given to the world and to me, Maria Callas!! Her eternal brilliance will last forever.

Как она меняет тембр голоса в течение одной арии ! Таким разнообразием тембров никто больше не обладает. И один благороднее другого. Бог просто создал идеальеую певицу - ничего больше можно не говорить о ней.

Maria Callas' sound was and is unique because of her technique and special ability to control and project her voice. For me personally, she is the opera diva with the voice that people will still be listening to recordings of 200 years from now.

I wish more people, especially the young, would be more interested in opera. I hope it's not a dying art. I was born in '89 & this by far, is the best genre of all music.

You are quite correct. I used to listen to Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Black Crows and all of rock. Once I began exploring opera ......I can never go back. Opera transports the soul to highest elevations. There is indeed a spiritual vibration to opera, second to none. It is not a dying art, although I must say the modern opera sopranos do not have the technique of the Golden age. if you really want to treat yourself, listen to these three artists, all on youTube: Rosa Ponselle, Amelita Galli-Curci and Kirsten Flagstad. Suprema!

To start out with Opera, it is nice to maybe watch a film that features Opera. I watched "A Room With a View" which starred Helena Bonham Carter and Maggie Smith and others.... lots of beautiful opera music in that. Plus, beautiful scenery of Italy; Florence to be exact. That film inspired me to go to Florence and ten years ago I did! I even stayed in a hotel overlooking the river Arno....just like in the film! That film also got me into Opera. Great love story and some comedy in it too. I highly recommend it. La Boheme is a beautiful opera with which to start also. A love story about some very poor artists in France. She is dying of course....(lots of deathan tragedy in Opera, unless it is a comic opera; those are fun). La Traviata is another to watch. Read the synopsis or summary online, which you can Google, so you know the plot in advance. LOTS of mistaken identities and long lost friends/lovers etc. in Opera too.

О!, Мария Каллас!. В груди тесно от наплывших чувств. Невозможно выразить словами что происходит со мной когда слышу её голос. Это и страсть и чувство какой то роковой неизбежности тревога не понятно от чего и полет ввысь и не хочется возвращаться.

Deux grecques musiciennes se sont imposées dans le monde. Toutes deux sœur cadette, myope et un peu trop fortes. Toutes deux maniant des langues sans les avoir apprises à l école. L une passionnée et volontaire met en avant avec une émotion intense des destins tragiques. C est La Callas. Sa petite sœur qui chantait quelquefois pour elle à l Astir d Athènes est Nana Mouskouri. Qui veut mettre en avant, elle, des harmonies pacifiees par la magie d une musique mesurée au dessus du sol, qui allège et sublime les émotions pour les rendre supportables

Listening to Madam Callas sing is a privilege and a joy. But no one's voice impacts me as emotionally as hers does. I am glad I lived at a time where she was part of my life. How anyone could give this a thumb's down is unbelievable. I must assume they are tone deaf or bereft of any sort of sense. Thank you for this wonderful collection.

I dont know why people say that MC have a short career... I mean she debut as prima donna profesionally at age 19 and kept singing on stage until age 42 ... 23 years on stage is a short career?? Besides she continue recording, teaching and having recitals for 9 years more. A total of 32 years dedicated profesionaly to music... That is not a short career... And if we count that her non profesional debut was at 15.. That give us a total of 36 years active.... Short career???!! Oh yes the little detail... she died at 53...end of the game

Eternal Sunshine Maria had greek nationality,she lived there in really difficult times for the nation during the war,she has been speaking greek and used to return always back to Greece with her love Onassis who also was Greek.As you see there are some very important things about her life that showed she wanted to be concidered Greek.And of course as she was perhaps the greatest and the most well known opera singer ever greeks feel proud of her.There is nothing like nationalism,there is only one talented person and you are happy for him like you would for your family.Why there always has to be a complain?
