Truth is… I was born at this time so I could hear Madame Callas sing. This is not a cult of personality. Instead, it is a celebration of her captivating artistry. She bears her light (for herself, for us) with an ineffable grace. (And the audience seems to agree.)

Personally, I used to dislike Maria Callas before. But when I opened my ears to her voice and listened to her studio recordings over & over again... I learned to EMBRACE her. By just listening to those audio recordings, Callas is a totally different artist. She acts out what she is singing, even I cannot see her act. I am a Renata Tebaldi fan but after such education about Maria Callas, I am a fan of both , Callas & Tebaldi. They are 2 different women...2 different voices....2 different cultures....2 different artists....2 GREAT SOPRANOS....

I think that Maria Callas is the most ideal Tosca in opera history. She possessed an exquisite voice with superb intelligence and artistry. She was a passionate, intense actress with a strong, dramatic voice that always remained as womanly embodiment of sentiments. Thank you for sharing your rare and invaluable video.

The voice was not very strong and the timbre was not beautiful , but strident and ugly. She is pretentious and she sings everything like weeping. In the theater she was not Tosca, she sang it not often

I didn't realise it was her birthday but I'm grateful for the algorithm getting it right for an occasion like this. There will undoubtedly be a lot of major celebrations and retrospectives of her life, talent and career next year for her 100th birthday. Bravo as always.
