I saw her final tour in Boston & she was alone, since di Stefano was ill. It/She was wonderful! Her voice filled the enormous hall, she floated onstage. I wrote an article about it upon her death, published in the Hartford Courant. I'd met her backstage, envoy witha note from a mutual friend. Lovely experience! They should not haveleft her alone in Paris, her solitude was visible in the photo of her looking out from her livingroom window. Shame on her friends, shame on us all.

BRAVA Callas.... yes, those roles are being treated again ... like mere vocalizations, which is why YOUR art lives on and on.. It is my frequent criticism of the "latest and greatest" is that the notes mean nothing and the words mean nothing.. but when you sand them, they took on GREAT meaning....
