More than 'just' a singer, Maria de Fátima is a Fado phenomenon: born in 1961 in a working-class neighbourhood of Lisbon (Boavista), she started performing in public at the age of 10. In 1974, she won the most important competition in the world of Fado: 'Grande noite do Fado'.
