Even I always think positive about Maria’s game,with all this plaques, I don’t expect Maria could win over Cirstea (sometimes she has very excellent game). Why wta players have such dislike for Maria. She is a 5 time GrandSlam champion. After serena only two players who are currently playing that is Sharapova and Venus have won maximum GrandSlams. Rest have won only 2 or 3 maximum GrandSlams. She didn't win all those GrandSlams because of the substance she took for which she was banned. I mean look at her game.

How would u like in in ur workplace a screaming wife at the work floor ? will u love that all the time ,her screaming now is even taking so long that when her opponent have to hit the ball she can still hear her scream ! Not so nice for ur concentration ! And believe me I think Maria knows that ! And knows she infects her opponent game with it ..,,,so that is why I think they do not like her to play with ,and I can fully understand that ! And yes she has talent ,but as soon she has to run a bit more ,or better said when her opponent let her run she often fails to return good ! No good running abilities ....

This is why I like Halep and not this girl, no matter the fights with any opponents,no matter she lose, she is nice and treat everybody with respect. Can't say I m crazy about Maria, but she is a champion.I don't think is fair for other players that she is playing only on this stadium and in night session, but always had a different treatment in USA due to sponsors (I think).

💤 💤 😴 after 15+ years we are still saying the same boring thing. Get over it. No one cares. Most players grunt. Her grunts don’t bother her opponents. It lasts for the duration of a full stroke. She does it not to hinder but for power and intensity. She’s always done it and does it consistently.

Gusar Zakrpa Slažem se sa tobom i nadam se da ovde može postići nešto više.Doping afera... Ljudi su izgleda zaboravili da je taj lek bio legalan sve do 2016, a da je ona i pre 2006 bila na prvoj poziciji i imala grend slem, gde je u finalu pobedila protiv Serene. Što se tiče lepote, meni su ona i Sorana tu "jednake", ali svako ima svoje mišljenje.

The level of WTA is getting worse and worse. Top players are not consistent (#1 and #2 are out prior to 3rd round), too much drama and tennis is boring. I used to binge watch women's tennis when Henin, Mauresmo, Hingis, Clisters and Williams's were on the tour. Now I barely watch any matches :(

The reason why the handskahe was awful is that Cirstea made bad comment after Sharapova was suspended in 2016 , I remember each and every player who bashed Sharapova, and she is one of them. I guess, the way she beats them drives them up the wall and you can see that. Sharapova knows that too, she is aware that 70% of the tour hates her because of the scandal, but none of them actually got familiar with the case to the fullest. Maria smiled after the handshake, savage. 😝

I watched the whole match today and she really didn't do so well in the first set even though she won that with 6 - 2. There was a lot of double faults during a deuce. It was painful to watch. But she finally get it together in the second set half way in. She really need to work on her first and second serves. Hopefully she'll get better (just 1 day break) and pray that she can take it all the way to the championship.

If you think Cirstea's handshake was the worst, you should've seen Sharapova's huge grunting at the end at the match in Cirstea's face which was quite rude and of course, all those missed opportunities. Maybe that was the reason why that handshake was so cold. Cirstea is one of the nicest people on tour, she has many friends, unlike Sharapova who is just bitchy. Being a champion means also showing respect to your opponents and that involves no useless grunting, bad looks, toilet breaks in order to annoy the opponents, serves that almost get me asleep until she decides to hit the ball and other tricks just to get the other players mad. She plays well, as expected, given the fact that she's 6'7" tall, but a TRUE champion doesn't need all that crap to show what she's made of.

Maria is good-looking, plays good tennis; but her shrieking is just too annoying. I just can't enjoy the match. I can imagine what her opponent is thinking. There is no reason for this. Some noise is okay. Exhaling loudly as you exert your energy in a stroke, is a successful strategy in many sports. But she have to prolong this loud shriek long after she has finished her swing? It is unnecessary, and clearly used to rattle the opponent. I think it shows lack of sportsmanship on Sharapova's part. And as a fan, it just makes the tennis unwatchable.

@Cosmic Con true. she had earned over 300 million by 2016. Serena crossed 20 million in a year mark for the first time in this decade. she never did that in 2000s decade. In late 90s and early 2000s hingis and Venus were highest paid with their earnings near about 15 million. Serena topped first time in 2004 and then second time she did in 2016. She never reached Maria's peak earnings. Maria topped for 11 years straight and is one slam away from topping it again
