I'm no Mariah fan, but Roger Love is absolutely correct. She didn't diva it up, her monitors are fucked up. With the in-ears in, she can't hear anything but what's coming through them. There's nothing she can do about it. They show examples of lousy performances, but the voice is not a piano, her voice box and diaphragm have to be physically capable in order to give a good 2 hour performance, it's very demanding. Singers need time between performances to recover physically. They can sing 4 - 5 times per week, but as they age, they need more time. I think 4 times a week may be her limit. But tour schedules have them singing 5 - 6 times per week. It's a big reason for all this lip synching. I think she handled it well. She said it best, shit happens.

Pros. in the entertainment business do not make mistakes like this, and the equipment they use is next to fail-proof. DCP are counting on general public ignorance of studio and stage equipment in the blogs to blame this on Mariah Carey. When was the last time you saw this go on during a stage performance? ..... it just doesn't because there is too much at stake. Also, there are audio techs off stage who watch and listen to her just to be certain. If you watch Mariah, she dealt with it amazingly well, and kept giving verbal cues and signs to fix the monitor which were all ignored by the producers. So far singers like Marie Osmond and Sharon Osbourne have spoken up for Mariah.

She has a Beautiful and powerful voice. Mistakes happen and if your a true fan u would understand that! People make mistakes and if you haven't made a mistake well I guess your not human !!!

I sing in a live band for quite a large church and, though in ears are very helpful in following the songs and knowing what to sing, you're still expected to know what to do when the in ear isn't working. In addition, having been a singer for SO MANY YEARS, Mariah should have known how to deal with issues like this.

Dancers follow an 8 count so they can keep the beat in that situation but singers rely on an earpiece. Mariah also didn’t have backup sings so she couldn’t get the music from them
