Fortunately they're extinct. But riddle me this; how is the dumbo octopus scarier than what i just described? Ignoring the fact they don't swim anywhere near human depths, and that *cough*sharks are one of its main natural predators could you at least point to a trait it possesses that makes it scary? those floppy ears? you picked the cute non-venomous octopus to claim to be more scary then a megalodon?

If we’ve only explored a mere 5% of the ocean, how can we confidently say that the prehistoric species have went extinct?

Because a mass majority of the ocean is blank nothingness that doesn't need explored. You wouldn't send a submarine to an empty stretch of ocean just for them to say that nothing was there. Also, the big predators are definitely gone because of how modern aquatic animals look and behave. If giant sharks and such were still alive, all life in the ocean would be smaller

Yeah, the video said 9 feet. They also had to breath air, and their fossils were found where there were shallow oceans. Putting them in the trench is a bit if a stretch.

@@bravediomedes217 exactly, also strange to include them in a list with all living animals. And bombarding them specifically as beeing scary they were verry successfull(based on the fossil record on the species)but not verry special in any otherway, more scarier creatures did excised. It doesn't fit in the list not as a particular scary monster, nor living in the trench well they still made me watch till the end, so good job on their side I guess.

Don Walsh, Jacques Piccard, and James Cameron are the 3 human beings that have visited Challenger Deep, all in which described it as an “alien or otherworldly” area much like the surface of the moon. We keep these words in mind on account of the lack of life and information reported while visiting the bottom of the ocean. All these creatures in the video have been discovered at amazing depths, just not while exploring the trench.
