When my husband and I married, he always encouraged me to wear a hat in the sun, to prevent sunburn on my face. Slowly I began wearing hats to Mass again, then also to the malls when shopping. About 20 years ago, I just happened to wear a hat to a conference and that was the first time I did not get a migraine while at this annual conference. Suddenly I realized that the hat prevented the fluorescent lights from getting to my eyes and giving me a migraine! I tell everyone that they can wear a hat, they just need to find a style that fits them. Also, if they know someone who gets migraines, encourage them to wear hats when indoors with fluorescent lights. It has made a big difference for me.

I wear hats and scarves. I love to head wrap a scarf, also. Once you get started, it's hard to stop. I have drawers of scarves and probably 30 hats for every season.

I feel the same way! I have been wearing hats since my 20's and now in my 60's, I am not stopping. I just learned how to wear scarves 5 yrs ago though. They are so much fun!

Yes - the pink cloche hat with the bow was beautiful! I loved the pink beret also ❤️. I was surprised to hear Myriam say that many women are afraid of being looked at,due to lack of self confidence. I find that wearing a hat boosts my self confidence. The black hat is stunning and elegant-enjoy them!

I love hats! My husband found me a vintage fur hat and I've finally gotten brave enough to wear it. I used to be afraid I didnt have the panache to wear it well. But I love it, I feel so happy in it, and get so many compliments on it!

I especially loved the first gray cloche because of lovely brim. The navy fedora with the silver band was very sleek. The fuchsia one was stunning!

I love hats and scarves. I have worn them for as long as I can remember. Even as a teenager. I inherited my grandmothers hats from the 40s and I occasionally wear those as well for special occasions.

I love the hats you chose. The black fedora, the gray fur, and the fuchsia cloche were my favorites on you. I think the fuchsia suited you much more than the orange, and even more than the particular shades of red (though I think your red lipstick, for example, is a shade of red that suits you beautifully). I really enjoyed this, as it is always difficult to tell which hats do and do not suit -- and it is helpful to see a shopkeeper choosing and also styling the hats on you. Loved this!

N Doucette don’t know where you are in the states but there is a fabulous hat shop in Eureka Springs, Arkansas (Hats, Hides and Heirlooms) that has a wonderful selection of hats. I have about 65 hats of which most came from that shop.

I like Chapel Hats and Village Hat Shop, both of which have dot com online stores. I bought a cocktail hat from Village Hat Shop for autumn, and a top hat from Chapel Hats last October. Both have excellent customer service and free/no hassle 30-day returns.

@@dawnbliesener7679 I recently bought a collection 6 pillbox hats from the Jackie Kennedy era at an estate sale, and they are gorgeous, each with two hat pins. You're right. There's nothing like seeing a hat in person. That said, most of my hats are bought online. I know my size, so fit isn't a problem. Buying from reputable online shops, I never have a hassle with a return or exchange, though that rarely happens. I never thought about Ebay! I will definitely check that out. Thanks for the heads up, and if you have any tips about buying hats on Ebay, they'd be much appreciated.

I wore a bright red and black beret all the time when I was in my teens (early 90s). I absolutely loved them and wore them until they wore out. That was many years ago, but I'm thinking I'll start wearing them again now after watching this. My love for berets is reignited!

My daughter looks fantastic in fedora's. Most are men's hats. My favorite one she found at a thrift store and has a small tasteful flat bow. She gets compliments from MEN on that one. It is her personal style trademark now.

Thank you for speaking in French during your hat shopping experience. I took French in college and it was nice to be able to understand, at least, every other word spoken....lol. Love that both you ladies discussed the philosophy of wearing certain styles of hats. I just used to plop a style on my head and that was that. Love the hot pink hat with the origami folds! Wow! I absolutely love true cloche hats - partly because of their association in my mind with the 1920’s . Regardez the board on the trottoir . A cloche and a danse du thé for me .

I agree with the tips, very smart advice. I love hats and had one in my early 20s, but I was not comfortable wearing it. It was stylish and did not go with my outfits at that time. I felt out of the place. Very few hats look wow on me. I bought a similar hat recently and it is so flattering. I am in my 40s. I am wearing it confidently and I receive compliments and smiles all the time. It makes such a difference. You start walking like a queen and get treated like a queen. ❤️ I absolutely love it. ❤️

Just bought a new bordeaux coloured, widerimmed fedora last week. Love wearing hats, that is what I would call real hats, structured ones, not knitted beany type ones. The wider the rim the better. And yes that sometimes draws a bit of attention, but always positive. Just say thank you and good day to you too. It gives a smile on both sides of those little encounters.

You have no idea how much I enjoyed this video. I am Polish and when I was a child my mum and grandma would buy hats only in a little hat store just like that! I also used to go with my grandfather to a hat factory to sell his rabbit skins for felt and I remember the amazing factory hat store. I also have fond memories of all the ladies wearing proper hats to church on Sunday. Nowadays the little hat store in my home town is long gone and everybody wears cheap quality hats from chain stores :( Would you please make a video how to style the hats you bought with different outfits? Particularly with more casual outfits. I would love to wear a structured hat more often but my style is more casual and I think it clashes sometimes. Thank you Marie-Anne.

I love hats so much. What an informative video. The hats you chose really suit you. My grandmother wore lots of hats 1940s-1970s and I inherited them. She told me how changing the hat band could change the entire look of the hat and outfit. She used petersham or satin ribbon, or various scarves. So, you could accessorize the plain black fedora with a pop of color by changing the ribbon. Again, thank you for taking us to a hat shop.

OMy Goodness you look so very SOPHISTICATED with that fedora hat on!!!😍😍😍 You should also buy the black cloche hat with the flower on the side. That one looked gorgeous on you as well. I am so glad that you are finally incorporating hats into your wardrobe. Honestly I never understand why more women (and men) don't wear hats. They keep the body so much warmer in cold weather. It is estimated that about 80% of body heat is loss from one's head. I watch the I Love Paris KZfaq channel. The nicely dressed people often look so cold. I think to myself...just put on a hat please. Just look at the stylish Princess Kate with her hats. She always looks stunning when wearing one. Also, don't worry about the looks/stares that you will get. They are admiring a stylish woman. When spring time arrives next year you can buy a light straw hat for warmer weather. I love this video. I wear hats a lot, even though I'm usually the only lady around who does. I don't care. I have always loved them and have a "hat face". You looked so chic and natural in the more structured styles, and not at all over the top. Even simple hats will get you noticed anyway in my experience. Once I visited Paris in this season, early December, and I knew it would be cold. I wore a black velvet hat with grey faux fur trim, a bit like a Russian hat. It was made in Italy and I bought it for around $20US at TJ Maxx! Was so happy to be taken for a Parisienne!!! Still have it and love it, also wear berets all winter here in Pennsylvania USA. ❤💂♀️👩🎨❤😘

I really loved the first gray hat, you put on . Even if it was with a, deep gray scarf, with a black coat , or jacket. Assuming these hats are for every day shopping, or errands, or walking the dog. The gray fur hat in very elegant, and sophisticated . Other men type hats , also looked-great , different , but at the same time it’s all you.

What a wonderful video! I love hats, but tend to wear toques and cashmere beanies because it's so cold in Canada. Love the structured hats on you the best. Your three choices all look amazing on you! I especially liked the first grey hat you tried as well.

They ALL looked great!! I loved the all of the felt ones! Personally, I love a structured hat as it protects my head from cold, rain, and even sun more than the unstructured ones!

Merci beaucoup. I love hats! As a southern coastal Californian, my hats needs to be chic and protect from the ever present sun. I wear a hat daily. In the morning, often, I select the hat first, then choose the clothes secondly. I enjoyed this video and learned many tips. Well done. Greetings from Santa Barbara.

Wow!! Loved it. The black fedora is awesome. I had a summer fedora and loved it. I liked the fish is also and the fur for very winter days. I also appreciated the beret tips. I have a small head too and appreciate how to size. Great video!!!

Ooh, I liked the black hat with the "puff" on it and the pink cloche on you best. I've had a maroon beret for years. I keep it for travel because it packs flat and covers my ears if necessary. I'm having a bit of "hat envy" now, because in Florida it's usually too hot to wear a hat except to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes. I bought a beautiful pink hat in Brussels last year. Don't know what I was thinking. It sits in my closet because it's too warm here to wear it!

Love the hats you chose. Amazing how beautiful you look in black! And fuchsia, and grey! I stick to redhead colors- olive, copper, orange, teal, ivory, gold, camel, golden brown. I look best in berets and have worn them all my life. Cotton in summer and wool for winter. Sometimes I wear a scarf as a headband with the beret over it and tilted more to one side. I did feel a little uncomfortable wearing them when I am in France as if I were trying to look French but the nice woman in a hat shop assured me it was ok!

Myriam is so confident, & knowledgable of her craft she just put me immediately at ease on my "pretend" hat shopping trip. I still have to pinch myself now, and then when I see something about France especially Paris because I can't hardly believe my sis and I were actually there. Thank you so much for this video. It was sooo helpful. I love hats. I also have a small head, but a wide forehead and square face shape. I think I suit the fedora style and a baker boy style or anything with a small brim, but I think berets are less flattering on me. You bought my 3 favourites Marie-Anne!!! They looked wonderful on you. I wish there was a lovely shop like this in my town, with such a knowledgeable assistant too! 💖

I really liked you in the last black fedora; my second favorite was the gray fedora with what looked like a leather band. Two things keep me from hats: what to do with hat hair after you've worn the hat a while; and the etiquette of hat-wearing. Maybe you could do a video on one of these topics. I enjoyed this video a lot! Love hearing French being spoken and seeing "real people."

@@MarieAnneLecoeur I too have a problem with "hat head" when I wear a hat for very long - even a light summer hat.....I love hats but don't wear them often due to hair issue. Would like to know what others do about this. Oh for thick hair....

Marie-Anne has short hair, so she can basically not worry about a hat flattening her hair. I'd say a full head of hair needs something loose around it, a full beret, perhaps, or even a modern-day form of snood!

I LOVE hats. I thought you looked great in all of them, but the pop of colour was stunning. Love the fuchsia hats and the berets. And the ones that covered your whole head but were classier than a beanie. Great video. A very knowledgeable lady.
