The Mariinsky Theatre welcomes all the ballet lovers to celebrate together the World Ballet Day - an annual streaming marathon launched in 2014 by @RoyalOperaHouse.
We'll begin our day with the Morning Ballet Class held at the Historic Stage of the Mariinsky - a magical place which history dates back to 1860 and is inseparable from that of the classical ballet.

There are a lot of good ballet schools around the world, but honestly, in my view there isn't any company like the Mariinsky or Bolshoi. They are simply stunning and incredible!

You are right, Cumlaude. The Russians, despite their catastrophic politics and deeply tragic past, or perhaps because of it, excel in the performing and literary arts like no other culture on earth. Russians have something to be both proud of and also ashamed of, at the same time....like the forced starvation in Ukraine. And my family background is Russian. My family knew the legendary Maya Plisetskaya and her husband. Maya's parents, famed movie stars, were murdered by Stalin, for no good reason except they were Jewish. Dance on Russia.

@@classicalaid1 ....and defect. There's no excuse for Russia anymore. Russia has continuously insulted it's artists. The greatest Russian music was composed by homosexuals, yet they're very good at pretending this should be persecuted, while using the art of the music to put on a supposedly cultural face. Russians have mastered the art of hypocrisy foremost. It's become second nature to them. NO it's their first nature in this time.

Beautiful class with technically impeccable dancers! Was especially lovely to see May Nagahisa in class although I didn't find her name on the description.

Концертмейстер Геннадий просто гений, фантастика! Какую невероятно прелестно - Божественную музыку он играет , да как хорошо ! Ещё год назад во время карантина он аккомпанировал классу Марии Илюшкиной и Эльвире Тарасовой, там тоже просто нереально красивую музыку играл ! Надеюсь PR менеджеры Мариинского театра увидят восторженные отзывы публики о Геннадии , он правда невероятно крут 👍👍🔥 Хотим ещё больше видео с его участием !

Импровизатор исключительно удобной музыки для балетного урока - очень редко встречается такой талантливый музыкант! Спасибо за урок! Браво педагогу !

Слушаю, наслаждаюсь и понимаю, что даже маленькой доли импровизации не смогу повторить. Работаю концертмейстером, но как же научиться импровизировать? Это невероятный талант- Геннадий, браво 👏👏👏👏👏

The incomparable Mariinsky! Wonderful to see "Behind the scenes". Lovely accompaniment on the piano, too. Also, I never appreciated what a beautiful theatre this is before I saw the introduction to the video.

A beautiful and perfect class! Sometimes it seems more a performance than a class so much we can see the same school in every dancer. Even if each one has its ownn personality the fact that all of them are so well trained make even a class a great presentarion. Thank you the elegant ballet mistress Yana Selina, the inspiring pianist and all stars of the Mariinksky for this joyful moment.

I've had a hip transplant recently plus leg plates and screws, and have to do hip flexion exercises!! At totally and utterly nowhere near the height these dancers achieve. Their hip flexibility and balance is just astonishing!!! I am in awe and they encourage me here to keep doing my teensy little physio exercises on the wall rails, to get well again. I totally admire you all.Just awe inspiring to watch. xxxxxxx

Спасибо огромное!!!!! Чудесно, спокойно, по делу все))) Для устойчивости в арабеске сжать до горячести внутреннюю поверхность бедра опорной ноги, как бы втянуть в неё ягодицу, и при опускании рабочей ещё сильнее сжать, чтобы рабочая опускалась медленно

I know hardly anything about ballet, but I can't help the impression that in other companies those exercises look more athletic while here an overwhelming calmness&sensibility rule.

Geheimnisvollen ist mir eher die normale Sprache. Die Ballettsprache versteh ich. Grandiose Lehrerin, sehr tolle Choeographie bei jeder Übung. Tolle Tänzerinnen und Tänzer, sowie auch der Pianist. Nur die Kameraführung macht mich verrückt. Nicht einmal eine Seite oder Erklärung ohne Perspektivenwechsel. Schwierig da mitzumachen, weil ich vom Tablet nie die ganz Übung seh.

If you wann to See and enjoy the lesson I will refer to you. But if I want to practice the exercicess on my own, it is very difficult to get the howl chreographie cause of switching the perspective too often.

How do these people endure doing the same things day in and day out, year after year? They are a different breed of cat. But I've seen the Mariinsky plus many other great ballet companies in live performance, and I'm grateful.
