I spent a long time working on this song because so many bad covers and tabs exist. In fact, when I was done, I realised that none of the tabs or covers I could find were correct. Here's my explanation:
The main guitar you see is duplicated on both sides so I only recorded one on video.
All three guitars are tuned to, from low to high, B A D G B e. That's right: standard tuning except for the low E tuned down to B. I've seen covers and tabs range from E Standard to Drop D to Drop C to Drop B and while some of them hit the right notes, it was never representative of what was played on the CD or live. Notably, there are no power chords in this song; it is just octaves.
Apart from the lead parts, power chords are played throughout. However, because of the tuning, these power chords actually become octaves. In addition, I used an octave pedal with the settings Dry: 100%, Down Octave: 45%, Up Octave: 30%.
To get the right tone on the chorus, you have the hit the descending power chords with upstrokes rather than downstrokes.
The lead parts are double stops on the 3rd and 2nd strings with the open 1st string.
