As a kid of the 80s, Lost Boys was my favorite movie growing up. The MM version of this song is incredible. The remastered original is good but this just has more raw emotion and complexity to it. Love it.

I've waited over 20 years for this man to cover this song. I began listening to him around...92,93? And after seeing him live for the first time in 96 for the Antichrist Superstar album I said to my buddy "if anyone needs to cover 'Cry Little Sister' its this guy. Fast forward to today, after witnessing this band rule MTV and hard rock through the 90's...thank you so much Marilyn Manson.

My sister JUST got out of the hospital after a month in a bed, in critical care. She has MS, which is looking pretty terminal at this point. After 25 or so days of not being able to walk, she took a step. Then the other day, she took 12 steps. 12 amazing steps. And she keeps getting a bit better, every day. Thou shalt not fall, thou shalt not die, thou shalt not fear. So proud of you baby girl. Love is with your brother. I don't think he EVER sounded this good before. I mean, his voice sounds pretty much identical to how it sounded in 1991 and he hasn't really learned any new vocal tricks since then, but somehow, there's more soul in this performance than anything else in his entire career. He sounds more vulnerable than usual. His voice doesn't sound as "put-on" as we're used to. :)

Anyone who listens to actual goth bands from the 70s and 80s would not consider this, or 95% of MM's catalog goth music. Which is not to say it's bad, but people tend to correlate imagery with music. As far as imagery, hes definitely got a modern/grotesque spin on the whole goth thing, but as far as his music, it's really not close, nor do I think he intends it to be.

And my sister was growing up she used to listen to Marilyn Manson constantly she was obsessed with him, I had very different taste in music back then, so her teenage self would lock herself in her room and blast Marilyn Manson, I hated it! LOL, and then one day we decided to enter the 21st century and we got this contraption called The Box, it was a music streaming thing, and for the first time I saw Marilyn Manson Sweet Dreams, it scared the living hell out of me! So years went by I still felt the same live my life had a baby, had to have a C-section and that's important in the story, three weeks after I had my child through C-section my sister had gotten tickets because Marilyn Manson was coming to our town, she had no one to go with, but I knew this was her dream, so with my lactating boobs nice and fresh OR scar, I got dressed up all in black, and I went with her and we rocked it out, I was down on the floor jumping and then stopping to hold my scar LOL but I found myself knowing all the words to most of his songs, it was the first concert I've ever been to and I'll never forget it, Marilyn Manson was really rude he spit a lot but all in all that night I got to know my sister in a whole different light, I have pictures I know appreciate Marilyn Manson and his music and actually got excited when I saw this pop up on my feed. So that's my story I'm sure nobody will read it but I just had to tell it for the very first time, so thank you to whoever reads this comment because you have just entered a window through my life, and you don't even know me and that's more than most people get! 😏

I like most of his covers too but his version of the Ministry classic Stigma on the Atomic Blonde soundtrack didn't add anything to the song and his versions of Tainted Love, You're So Vain and Cat People aren't better than the originals either imo.
