My heart is broken!!! Decades later, her memory lives on. She carried herself with such grace and class and I miss her sweet smile so much! Aug. 5th, 1962 was a dark day. The world turned dull and dark when it lost Norma Jeane’s sweet soul and bright smile! RIP SWEETHEART!!! ♥️♥️♥️

I don’t know why people talk bad about Lee. Marilyn loved him and he gave a beautiful eulogy in her memory. Very sweet and probably exactly what she would have wanted. He spoke so beautifully about her. Had me in tears. Love you Marilyn now and always.

When he chokes up as he says “Marilyn never liked goodbyes” it shattered my heart into a million pieces. Oh Norma Jean you were more than what people liked about your body! You had a zest for life and a pep in your step that made others feel like a million dollars while you were behind the facade suffering! Your fans loved you with that love you were always seeking and could never seem to find. Granted not as a spouse or man could love you but true love just the same. Your fans loved you with the same passion with which you loved and that never seemed to be reciprocated in the way you were looking for. True love and admiration can come from someone (or in your case many many people) who isn’t in a “couples” relationship with you. Your soulmate can be a platonic confidante.

I feel a kinship with her, and I have never been able to quite articulate it. I think it's because even before i began studying her and learning about her life, I saw something in her....again, something I couldn't articulate. Ultimately, I think its the fact that although she was stunningly beautiful and glamorous..... that scared, insecure, frightened, unsteady little girl was always in there. She wanted to love, and she wanted to be loved....but She had no real understanding of how to do or obtain that. And maybe it's therein that I find that connection--- while Im nowhere even remotely within sniffing distance of her level of beauty or fame, I think I (and countless others) can surely relate to that need to feel love. To be loved and to love. How sad that the most luminous, magnetic, charismatic people are often the most tragic. Thank you for sharing this.

She felt Lee was one of few who could really see her as who she was, a sensitive being& gave her alot of validation .Extremely moving Eulogy, Marilyn didn’t like goodbyes? She was not capable of being happy. She had her own personal issues that she needed help with but she never got that help for one reason or another. She chose the wrong career for her personality. She should have been a school teacher, an equal rights activist or an ambassador for American foreign relations….she could have excelled a lot further in those careers than she did in Hollywood and it would have been so much more rewarding for her, and given her that sense of accomplishment that i don’t believe she ever had while being an actress.

@@cynthiaennis3107 Lol calm down. Marilyn very verifiably had clinical depression and severe childhood trauma that haunted her her entire life, and sadly, she only ever knew what it was to be objectified and exploited - not truly loved for who she really was. She said herself in 1960/61 that she was generally miserable. There is absolutely merit to what Penelope stated, so why don't YOU "study your case" before losing your temper online again.

I agree. What with most if not all of the people around Marilyn at the time of her death now dead also and that some of them were not trustworthy people and/or were pressured into saying what they said, I don't think we'll ever know what happened. Maybe if a written or taped confession or a letter or diary that can be verified we'll know but I don't expect that to happen.

This is such great irony. Part of the tragedy of Marilyn's life. Mr. Strasberg was among the people who profited profoundly from Marilyn's fame and persona during her lifetime, and even more so after her death. Marilyn would have lived longer, if only the people she surrounded herself with would have a greater effort to help Marilyn, rather than fuel her self-destructive tendencies. So terribly sad!

Years ago I was at a famous movie house that was showing one of Marilyn's films. People around us were saying very negative things about her. It's a good thing for them that I was not then the person that I am today because I would have let them have it. I whispered to the lovely young lady who was with me "what is wrong with these people?" She simply responded "they have no souls." She was 100% correct.

I believe, there are questions that will never be answered like: "Why Who Where What" but beyond the reasonable doubt sweet Norma Jean was one of the most beautiful children ever born only to be abused & abused day after day, even more, when cruel life metamorphosed her into the legendary Marylin Monero & even when the angel left that earthly body forever, yet the sad story to continue... All that is for sure; she was too beautiful for a human being and she knew too many things that anyone should know...

I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for Norma Jeane Baker. Her many words of wisdom filled me with confidence and gave me inspiration to keep going when nothing else could. She was the most beautiful human being to ever walk the Earth. It's crazy to think somebody so heartachingly amazing and glamorous was so misunderstood and insecure. Marilyn possessed traits no other human being can ever possibly measure up too. You can practically see the kindness through her smile in those old movies and pictures. She was more than a nice body and more than a pretty face. She was one of a kind. She was already an angel before she tragically went to heaven. Everyone on Earth could live one hundred life times and still never deserve the staggering beauty that was Marilyn Monroe. Although I didn't know her, I miss her every single day and I always will for the rest of my life. Rest in peace, sweetheart. I'll adore you forever ❤

As the song goes, I was just a kid, but I remember that sad day very well. I spent about three hours at Westwood all by myself two years ago, there was hardly anyone there. I felt the past all around me. I also found the resting places of Grace Goddard and Anna Lower, the two women that Marilyn loved from her past who were the reason Joe DiMaggio had her interred there. M.M. was just too pure for this often rotten world, ( I have a movie magazine with the filthy headline "Has Marilyn Had It Because Of Old Age?" She had just turned 36.) I believe she was sent directly from heaven and was ready to return home.

The fact is DiMaggio's knew show she was before he married her and then tried to change her into some version of the housewife he wanted her to be; his possessive need for controlling her made her life miserable and destroyed their marriage and then he stepped in and did the same with her funeral acting like she was just Mrs. John Doe from down the block and not a beloved figure for many, when he had no right to make decisions about her as she had married after him and was not his responsibility regardless. Just because he sent her roses every week after she died doesn't excuse his actions during her life or upon her death, he had some things to answer for.
