In case someone who doesn't know English slang/expressions sees this video, I'm gonna be the wet blanket here and give a breakdown: As Rushia said, "How are you doing?" means "How are you?" It can also be changed you "How you doing?" for a more casual form to be used among friends. You can also place a greeting before, "Hey, how are you doing?" grabs the listeners attention and then asks "how are you?" "See you later alligators" isn't really a meme, it's more of an expression or funny rhyme. It also doesn't mean "thank you." Instead, it's a playful way to say "goodbye" (specifically to more than one person), the people you're saying goodbye to are the "alligators." If you want to say it to one person, you can change "alligators" from plural to the singular form by removing the "s" and change it to "see you later alligator" This phrase is common enough that most native english speakers will know what you mean. If someone says "See you later alligator" to you, the most common response is "After while crocodile," which also means "goodbye." Not as many people actually say "lmao" out loud they usually just laugh, it's more of a shorthand online or texting phrase to let the other person know how hard you're laughing, it's stronger than lol (laughing out loud). That being said there is still a subset of mostly younger people (or older people trying to act young) that do use internet slang offline. A decent amount english speakers will know what you mean if you say "lmao," but some will probably look at you funny if you say this offline. "Based" (incorrectly written as "best" in the subs), means "that's nice" or "that's awesome," but it's a bit deeper than that. This one is a meme, but I could it being used by younger people in conversation. It's usually used as a response to something when you what to agree with something someone says. Few english speakers over a certain age will know what you mean if you say this, usually resulting in the common meme response "based on what?" "Fire," as slang, means something is "good" or "amazing" and it's slightly more complicated as it relies on older slang. It originates from fire being hot and "hot" being slang meaning the same thing. So if you say "That song is fire," it means "That song is good." A decent amount of english speakers will probably know what you mean, or may be able to figure it out on context.

I wonder how Senchou came upon 'LMAO'? Native English speakers say it like they're spelling it out, while in the Philippines we say it like the way Senchou did. Idk about other Asian countries. I'd like to think it's an Asian thing to read it like that.😅

Saying it like "luhmao" is so much more convenient than spelling it out
@TheGentleChainsaw
@TheGentleChainsaw 3 жыл бұрын
I'm a native English speaker from Australia, and I'm deffo more used to hearing it pronounced "luh-mao" instead of being spelt out. I really don't think either way is necessarily wrong, it just kinda depends on what you hear from other people more often. It's kinda like the GIF file format and how that can be pronounced either "giff" or "jiff", except without NEARLY as many people who frankly take the debate way too seriously.

Wow, they didn’t use any of those correctly, I think if a native speaker said fire like that when I asked them how they were doing I might ask them if they were literally on fire cuz I wouldn’t know what else that could mean in that context, fire usually only refers to fire or music like “this music is fire” basically this music is really good Why am I commenting this here, y’all probably already know this
