My 10 plus years of hard use with mine has my complete confidence in it. More than anything I’ve purchased since. My first quality “survival” knife I ever purchased when I turned 16. It truly is a faithful companion. Plus it’s a relatively local company to me which is also cool for conversation.

Great knife I've had mine for about 20 years I've got one of the original versions with the sheath that has the swivel hinge at the hip. Additionally on my sheath I ditched the shoelace leg tie and replaced it with paracord in a cobra knot braid, which if you consider by the time that goes around your thigh that is a fair amount of paracord you have at your disposal. Cobra braid has about a 13:1 capacity

Great review, thank you for your service. There is actually a unique reason this particular bowie knife excels at cutting and thrusting, in fact it will match the cutting capability of most kukris. In the historical treatise “book of the sword, c1884”, Sir Richard Burton describes the turkish yataghan as being the perfect cut and thrust sword. Specifically, it was because of the downward curved blade (like a kukri) recurving upwards to a point in line with the hilt (unlike the kukri). This sentiment about the yataghan was independently echoed by expert french swordsmen of the time as well. The SP10 bowie curves downward from the hilt (like a yataghan) and then curves up to a point; the curve lines are identifiable by tracing the contrast in direction. It inadvertently absorbed the cutting and thrusting prowess of a yataghan blade in it’s design. That differentiates it from most other commercially available bowies.

I am also that jerk with usally a big Bowie knife,walking the woods. Often a Ontario SP10 or another big or even bigger knife or a knife thick machete knife type of blade. Is it more of us here, who are the same kind of jerks?? Just bought the Condor engineer machete,15" blade and over 2 pounds of steel,my god what a beautiful beast,love it. In Norway we have woods,not jungle. So need something large and heavy for wood,i use axes off course,i am a scandinavien after all. But i really love knives and they are so much more usefull

Kentucky boy here, and I actually love the Kukri blades. Spartan Blades make a really good Kukri if your looking to get into one. I think the SP10 is highly underestimated because it’s 1095, and doesn’t cost 3-$400. They serve you well and don’t stress the wallet.

This was one of my first large fixed blades when I started getting into knives and it's always been a go to because of how much you get for you money without worrying about wailing on that 400 dollar knife you'll never be able to replace if you break it.

I've got a couple of kukris and a Raider Bowie. I've had all of them about twenty years. The kukris are better for chopping, because of the blade shape and design, having a lot of the weight forward. For an all around knife / tool I much prefer the Raider Bowie. I bought mine used, from a pawn shop. I got it for $20 because the previous owner had really abused it. He must have struck it against something metal while chopping as there were deep dings into the cutting edge. I knew what a great knife it was and bought it. I put many hours into cleaning up and fixing the edge and then sharpened it. I mean really super sharp. When I bought it, it came in a leather sheath. I believe it the original sheath. It's a standard belt sheath with a leather belt loop on the back, not a dangler of any kind. The sheath appears to be commercially made as opposed to hand / custom made. The sheath is definitely made for this huge bowie. I'm guessing, because of how old it is it has a 1095 blade and I believe that at this time, these knives came with the heavy leather sheath. I really like this old knife. I do have an equally old Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie with a superb steel blade and I have very beautiful Damascus bladed bowie. Both of these are a little smaller, lighter and more 'nimble' than the Raider Bowie.

I love this knife! I got lucky about a year ago and saw it on sale for $45 on Amazon and snatched it up. It’s been my favorite knife ever since!

I gave mine away years ago, but used it extensively in Arnhemland in the top end of Australia for a good while before that. I processed wood, butchered buffalo and macheted a LOT of scrub with it, and always regretted passing it on. The Junglas I replaced it with also went to someone else, and I mostly just use an old Cold Steel Trailmaster in Carbon V these days. I like the idea of kukris too and a lot of people swear by them, but I've always loved big clip-point bowies since I was a kid and they are all I've ever used in the bush. I reckon I'd feel like I'd almost be losing a piece of my identity if I switched it up this late in life 🤣 You've convinced me I need another Marine Raider

Great review man...My son and I collect blades and I just picked up this one...got it more as a "just cause" knife...But I've seen several reviews and people absolutely love them. For a blade this size in 1095 carbon, full tang, its really hard to beat. I can't wait to take this beast out and field test it!

Great knife. I had it in the Bug Out Bag for years, but now I replaced it with a Crkt Kangee t-hawk tactical tomahawk. For about the same mass, I got a more usable survival and defense tool, I think. Now I carry SP10 in the forest ..

Great review and good stories. I've wanted one but never got one because of the clip point. Always liked drop point style blades. I do have the supreme stabber SP6 and love the 1/4" RD knives like the RD6, RD7 and RD Tanto which I have. I think 5160 is my favorite blade steel. Screw all the super duper steels. They all collect dust in a drawer now. I now rock a 440C three dot 1980-81 Buck 110 and an RD7 when camping and backpacking. Just subscribed.

Great knife and a real honest review ! In my opinion, even if you bought the kukri (Condor makes a great job with their blades ) in your place I'll keep that SP10 on my hip as well into the woods ...at least for a while .. It's a proven "tool" 😊 Kukri, although is a beast, would require some time to get used to it ... I imagine that into the woods you won't carry 75 pounds of gear 😊

in a combat situation, not having to carry it around, what would be your favorite knife for having to dispatch the enemy?

I've got one too. I've had it for at least as long as you have. My only thing concerning it is the sheath. That 2 piece ring deal is just not ideal. Thinking about getting some form of a scout carry, maybe kydex deal. Did you keep the original sheath or did you replace it? I guess that I should have read the other comments before I wrote this one. The weak link in this great blade is that sheath tho.
