Filmed in a big tide pool on the eastern shore of Amami Oshima, one of the larger islands in Japan's Ryukyu island chain. This tide pool is home to more than 20 species of marine reef fish. Thanks for watching!

yes, funny how the colourless surf perch is still one of the coolest looking fish in the video!

Hey, thanks for posting! I'm headed for Miyakojima in a few weeks😀Interestingly my wife and I were once followed by what I think was a juvenile Humphead Bannerfish while free diving at the south end of the Izu peninsula in Shimoda. He wasn't the least bit shy. Cheers, Chris Teaching kids about global warming and ocean acidification with corals in the classroom.
