Totally agree, dump the 450 outboards and drop in real motors 1550'S. A boat that size deserves true power pushing it.

@@garrettkifer8332 Skater has used that setup for many years in racing. Their triple outboard 36s were and still are very popular. I haven't seen their tunnels so idk what they look like but for sure Peter Hledin has put something in front of the center engine so the water rushing through will be diverted around the engine.

@@garrettkifer8332 I have been to offshore races where triple outboard cats were used. None of them were MTIs afaik. As you can see I've sent a post to Randy Scism about mounting a center engine in his boats but he has not replied. Short of telephoning him directly there is nothing more I can do.

I love the clean twin engine look. with it being a pleasure boat I like the open area between engines for boarding and swimming. I think the boat would not look as good with 3 engines. Mike Howe bought this I believe and added twin 500s.

@@classiccarson9760 They certianly could build a lighter 600. The Mercury 600 is a true masterpiece of engineering. The design (and weight) are the result of the application it is intended for. Primarily built as a powerful, quiet, reliable outboard to replace inboard diesel engines in Yachts. When you hang 2, 3, 4, 5, ... Whatever 600 outboards on a Yacht you free up insane amounts of space for things like a Disco, bowling alley, golf course or Soccer field. Mercury knew they would ONLY sell 600's if they were a silky smooth, nearly silent running, and a reliable option. They did that. Take another look at the cut up display model and have someone explain what you don't understand. It is like nothing else. It's worth every penny. P.S. I'm just some dude in Arizona who is either in my LazyBoy or on my DIY resto 73 Tom Sawyer with a Mercury 888 I/O that looks and runs like new.
