Fun little music video re-creation to Mariner's Revenge.
In the early 1800’s Sam, a young mariner, and Vince, a crooked whaling captain, are trapped together in the belly of a whale. Sam recounts the story about how Vince ruined his life by gambling away his family’s wealth and destroying his mother, Martha, in the process. Sam informs Vince about how Martha, upon her death, entrusts him with a quest for revenge. Sam spends the next few years wallowing in his despair until he gets a lead on where Vince is. He packs up his life, joins the crew of a ship, and begins his search. Martha’s ghost has stayed with him and gives him strength as he seeks to avenge her. When Sam finally finds Vince, a whale attacks their ships before he can act. Now, even though both men are doomed, Sam will get what he has been searching for.

@@Timbo__Slice I would argue that the man is established to be a heavy drinker, and alcoholism can definitely age you physically. I think that combined with being out at sea time and time again over long periods probably contributed to his haggard appearance, that and people who are in their mid-30s can start going gray/white, especially if their constitution isn't the best. I know this comment is old, just something I was thinking about myself... this is the only explanation I came up with. If you want to think more metaphorically, you could consider it a stylistic choice, as the younger man seems scarily alive with the prospect of finally getting his revenge, while the other is frail, gray, almost dead-looking. He's "not far from his end," as it were.

@@selestedoesntevencare2169 I found myself maniacally singing that refrain yesterday, while thinking of my ex-husband who did all he could to destroy me and his son, 30 years ago. Our's is a long story involving kidnap and murder, and I appeared on "Unsolved Mysteries" in 1997 to describe his crimes. I can't watch that episode, I look so dead inside but I was anything but. I was controlling my rage. My ex went to prison for 4 years, on a different charge. He was never indicted for murder. When I found he was to be released, I sold my house and moved 1500 miles with my little boy and our two cats. When I got to my new state, I went to court and changed my name to something very common, and was able to get some recent details removed from my credit report so he couldn't track me. 20 years ago, I bought a 20 acre property in the mountains, no neighbors for 2 miles. We're off-grid, only one dirt road to my house so I know when someone is driving this way. We've lived peacefully here for 17 years. Last month my son received a letter. From the man who murdered our family member and hurt us in every way he could. He's found us. My son is 31 now. We discussed what to do if this monster shows up. We just don't know which of us should pull the trigger. My son is a better shot, but if someone goes to prison for ending that monster's reign of terror, it should be me. My son asked, "What if you're incapacitated? What if he shoots you first?" With a maniacal grin I sang: THEN... "Find him, bind him Tie him to a pole and break His fingers to splinters Drag him to a hole Until he wakes up naked Clawing at the ceiling of his graaaaaaaaaaave!"🎶

Love the deep voice for the mother and that she dies on the street - I've seen a lot of interpretations have her lying on a bed, but I think yours makes the whole story that much more tragic and realistic. I also think your video captures a deeper connection between the mother and son, particularly with them laughing and dancing on the boat, which is both wholesome and terrifying considering the mother is a ghost and the two are laughing about their plot to violently torture and kill a man. And not to mention the costumes! I particularly like what the mother is wearing inside the house and her ghostly outfit. Nice attention to detail including stays! Periodically showing the Mariner and the Captain inside the whale contributed to the balance and variety of scenes and made extra use of one of this videos strengths: having real people play the characters - which gave a more raw and realistic feel and allowed for more focus on facial expressions. Quite a captivating watch throughout. Well done 👏👏

People who are having a hard time grasping the songs timeline, allow me to shine some light. He was 3 when his mother Met this man... realistically they probably spent a few years together before he had so much debt he had to flee from debts. So now the child is 6, the mother wandered the streets for a year until consumption killed her probably due to lack of shelter and good food. child is now 7 it took me 15years to swallow all my tears... now the child is a young man of 23 and works for the church sweeping.. .probably another year or two at least before overhearing the news, so hes 25 and sets sail... he could have realistically been at sea for YEARS before catching up to the ship in question... so he could be in his late twenties or mid 30s by the time he finally catches up to the crook. the crook would be roughly in his late 40s to mid 50s at this point... so this old man isnt too far off from how an elderly sailor might look.

The captin had most of his emotions shown through his makeup with the dark circles on his eyes. While the main dude was lifeless the entire song and gave little to no emotion the entire time. I mean in the whale scenes he looked liked he was reading the most uninteresting book in the world then smiled a little for a whole of like 3 seconds and went back to lifeless for the ending. For the whole thing I give it As and Bs besides acting thats a D-. They would get a F but the mother saved, i mean hell the child gave more emotion than the main dude.

My only complaint is that the old man showed regret on his face throughout the video while listening to his past. I kind of imagined the man in the song to be sitting down, uncertain about what he'll do once he's finished with the story, not regretting his past. At the end it got better since the old man's face showed that he was curious what the mariner would do next but still didn't really have a scared look on his face. Other than these two things though the video was really good.

Damn, this is really good! It's really professional-looking! Ugh, now I wish someone would make an actual movie out of this song lol. Nothing like a good old-fashioned revenge story, amirite? XD Seriously though, good job.

I've seen a few comments saying the man didn't look afraid at the end, but I think he did. It isn't like a cowering for his life kinda fear, it was a cold fear of the unknown/expectation of what's going to happen

This video attaches actual faces to the characters and that gave it a new perspective for me. The mother did a bad in my opinion, why make her son so vengeful instead of dropping it and letting him live his life? Even though the drunkard ruined it, surely it would have been healthier to move on. Such is the human condition.

perhaps he would have been happier. but likely not. he was an urchin, adrift. without purpose, he likely would have floundered, becoming a wastrel or criminal or maybe just wasting away and dying. instead, he was given purpose, something to dedicate himself to. and something to give him peace when he died, knowing he had accomplished his life's goal. certainly not the worst way to go.
