My dad was a career criminal, and he's been in and out of the penitentiary all his life (he's passed now). When I was a kid he would tell me stories of the inmates being taken out to "Pea Farms" in MS to harvest peas, and he and his friend Slim planned to escape into the woods surrounding the farm (no fences) one day. His plan was simple: first steal a couple shakers of black pepper during breakfast, second, work the field closest to the tree-line, third, when the lunch bells sounds and 100 hungry men start racing for the chow line then run the other way into the woods, finally, a few feet into the tree-line, dump the pepper, so when the bloodhounds hit it their sense of smell is toast for a while, then you're home free. So, Pepper Spray, probably 101 uses that!

I would recommend looking into a good headlamp, flashlights are awesome but they take away the use of one hand, a good headlamp will allow you to use both hands while giving you good light.

Outstanding! I'm a ancient 1st Marines Leatherneck, but we still speak the green language of emprovise, adapt and overcome while evading, fighting, recovering! Also, helping other people with common maintenance (just swapped out kitchen faucet yesterday) is something I've done most of my life. It's good to know there are more of us out there, that when the smoke clears, we can start over and teach some skills to others.

Thanks for this video. I'll be getting one of the 511 packs... not just for the features you illustrated, but also because you did way more than the average "bug out bag" presenter... you actually showed how to deploy your setup, rather than just its contents. That's 100% better, or more, than just a "here's what I've got in my bag" sort of video. (Of course, you also chose excellent gear - some of which I hadn't thought of or seen before.) I also appreciate that while you covered carrying a firearm concealed, you didn't feel the need to parade your gun for us... that makes the viewer think about how their own weapon would fit into your loadout, rather than getting distracted wondering if your gun is better than theirs, so something else equally ridiculous. Well done.

I have added lock picks and a portable door locking device to mine so, if I’m in a room no one with a key can get in easily. Your presentation was top notch. I was thinking all he needs is an armor plate and two seconds later you pull one out. LOL. Excellent video thanks.

Good video! Some I’ve added to my urban supplement kit (I live in a rural environment, but travel to bigger cities from time to time) is a set of lock picks and decoders. Not only can you gain access to look for resources, but you can tuck yourself in behind a locked door for some rest or to regroup. And likely if someone tries coming in, they’ll try breaking through the door or whatever giving you time to hide or arm yourself

I think it's funny how guys are all too concerned about looking non conspicuous, ie a gray man, but also wear American apparel with form fitting shirts to show off the guns. I know if I see a 30 year old, or older, guy with an athletic build wearing a backpack, I am gonna assume he has a weapon and supplies in it. Not saying I will target these guys, just saying they should be looked out for. When SHTF, just remember that the same guy trying to protect and provide for his family could be the same guy that becomes a bandit.

@@keithhatlak4325 I think all this non-earth tone gear is funny. Browns and greens are what blend-in with the suburban and even urban environments. And yeah, you're gonna need tourniquets if you're gonna stand around with a plate in front of you. I was trained old-school. When I hear weapons fire, I drop to the prone position. It's just how I was trained

Excellent video on a rarely touched subject. This is the most realistic and truly useful kit I’ve seen anyone on KZfaq present. 👍🏼👍🏼 One suggestion: stage your tourniquets (one is none…), don’t just loosen it up. Prep it for use so if/when you ever need it, it can be deployed as quickly as possible and can much more easily be put on one handed.

Nice video. Another thing to consider is keeping your feet dry in bad weather. Waterproof socks are nice, but if you don't have them you can carry a few plastic shopping bags (without holes) and a couple of pairs of dry socks. Just put the bags on over the socks you have on then put a pair of spare socks on over the bags. Your shoes should be able to fit over that. When your feet get sweaty, just swap out the socks. Also a decent headlight could be had for about $20 and it will keep your hands free.

I'm not into all the Mall Ninja gear (especially when it's not earth-tone in color), but in my case, traveling to various events as a preparedness gear retailer, my entire vehicle is basically one giant get-home vehicle. Ironically, for my own personal contingency pack, I use a Marine Corps surplus parasitic / sustainment bag (from their previous ruck sack system). It's just one big pouch with a flat compartment in it with a separate hydration pouch, but they're indestructible. I have several of them, since the cheapest price I paid for them was $15.00. I like those little tripwire alarms, for securing a mobile perimeter. Kevlar thread is a good thing.
